A Year in Review: Reflecting on My Hive Journey and Milestones in 2024

Entering 2025, I am thinking about my Hive accomplishments in 2024. To identify them, I must review the most important posts I created for the entire year. As such, this article will be a kind of directory for 2024 covering the diverse activities I made on Hive.

However, I thought I could cover the whole year. After a brief overview of all my posts, I observed that it is not realistic to cover all the published articles for this year. Moreover, I also want to note three developments that shaped my writing journey this year.

One, I observed that in the first four months of the year, it appeared that I lost the motivation to write. I could not recall right now the exact reason for such a loss of energy.

Two, beginning in May, I began to pick up my energy for writing. Again, I don't remember the precise reason for such renewed motivation.

Lastly, as June concluded, I observed that I got distracted by my preoccupation with Ton's Tap-2-Earn games.

Despite the above setbacks, I am still thankful for the many articles I published this 2024 which included HIVE staking and the growth of the Hive network, technical analysis of HIVE's market price, Bitcoin and the larger crypto landscape, and the idea of Homo Digitalis.

HIVE Staking and the Growth of the Hive Network

I wonder why it took me one month and 17 days to write my first long-form content for this year. I could not remember the reason for such a long rest. Perhaps it was due to a Christmas hangover or a sickness of some kind that made me inactive for 47 days.

I published my first post on 17 February about the long and intricate process of buying $HIVE. This includes transferring money from GCash to coins.ph, buying XRP on coins.ph, transferring XRP to MEXC, and finally buying HIVE on MEXC. How I wish for a simpler and faster alternative to this process.

Eight days later, I published my second post. This time, I shared a strategy about powering up $HIVE daily instead of relying solely on community upvotes to grow an account. To achieve this, I intended to use Hive Engine tokens like $SPORTS and $CENT. The goal was to reach Dolphin status as early as possible.

Reflecting on my second post, I realized that maintaining consistency isn't easy. I failed to power up $HIVE daily. As for the two Hive Engine tokens, I gave up $SPORTS after a few experiments but stuck with the $CENT token. Nevertheless, the good thing is that I was able to reach the Dolphin goal earlier than I expected. Converting my HBD to HIVE helped a lot in achieving such a new status. I achieved this in less than two months.

Turning to my third post, I became more puzzled with my inactivity. I was clueless about the reason why it took me two weeks to write a long post. In this article, I discussed the skepticism around Hive being labeled as a dying network. I argued to the contrary based on projects like Splinterlands, the role of $HBD, and the number of layer two applications built on Hive.

Speaking of layer two applications, I find the Cent and the Zing projects very promising.

On May 28, 2024, I narrated my discovery of @anadolu's announcement regarding the potential of the collaboration between Cent and the InLeo communities.

Three weeks later, anadolu called my attention again to the first community wars and battles to be held using the InLeo platform. In that announcement, tribe members are encouraged to share their favorite cryptocurrency outside of Hive. The goal is to boost Hive morale amidst the price slump of the token. Responding to the challenge, I wrote this article where I highlighted some positive and negative aspects of the Pi Network compared to Hive. I also mentioned the potential impact of my Pi collection on my Hive plan.

Zing too suffered price decline. Despite the market slump, I shared my decision to accumulate ZING token. In fact, the last time I sold ZING was on May 12, 2024 at 0.0063 SWAP.HIVE per token. Since June 1, I started accumulating ZING up to now. I am not done yet. I still have 23.65 $HIVE I earned from selling the token since November 5, 2023.

Technical Analysis of HIVE's Market Price

Another type of content I published on Hive is related to the technical analysis of the market price of HIVE.

On May 1, 2024, I published my first technical analysis of HIVE for this year. I discussed the importance of the presence of a doji on the chart of HIVE after a prolonged decline. For me, this indicated indecision in the market and potential weakening of selling pressure in the context of a downtrend. I emphasized the need for additional indicators to confirm a trend reversal and suggested increasing one's position while HIVE is still on sale.

The above analysis seems prophetic, for we are now witnessing the gradual increase in the market price of $HIVE. I saw @theycallmedan's tweet on X two days ago:

I guess the word is starting to spread about Hive. I see it everywhere now.

I also saw HIVE trending on several crypto platforms like coinmarketcap and investagram.

I published more articles related to this topic in the second half of 2024.

Bitcoin and the Larger Crypto Landscape

Bitcoin, Algorithmic Crypto, and Meme Tokens

After four months of hiatus, I observed that beginning the month of May, my Hive activity became more consistent. My fourth long piece of content is about Bitcoin, algorithmic crypto, and meme tokens. I highlighted bullish forecasts for BTC, wealthy families' preference for algorithmic tokens, Blackrock's involvement in meme coins, and the rise of WIF as a top meme token.

Financial Giants and DeFi

On May 30, I wrote emerging trends in digital payments. I discusssed the competition between traditional financial giants like Mastercard and DeFi innovators like Hive and LeoDex. The latter is a very promising competitive alternatives in the digital payment sector.

On June 1, I published a post exploring the recent surge in mainstream adoption of cryptocurrency, political influence, and the entry of PYUSD on the Solana blockchain. I highlighted the potential impact on the stablecoin market and the integration of centralized and decentralized entities.

Twenty-two days later, I shared the European stablecoin regulation that started on June 30. In this post, I explored the pontential consequences of the prohibition and the impact on the stablecoin market. I was anxious that it would lead to the delisting of some stablecoins while others would find a way to comply and survive.

Tokenization and RWAs

On June 3, I wrote a post exploring insights on tokenizing the banking system, highlighting the distinction between digitizing and tokenizing, challenges, risks, and the recent illicit use of USDT in the banking industry.

The following day, I shared how tokenization is disrupting Wall Street's power and empowering investors by allowing a variety of assets to be tokenized, leading to a more inclusive investment landscape.

The next day, that was the first time I talked about the tokenization of real-world assets (RWAs). I included treasuries and gold-backed stablecoins, highlighting their potential for bringing stability and growth in 2024.

Four days later, I wrote an article explaining the potential, challenges, and path forward for tokenizing real estate. I focused on how blockchain technology can revolutionize the industry and make home ownership more accessible for millennials and Gen Z.

Homo Digitalis

The last but not the least, my discovery of the concept of Homo Digitalis is an important milestone in my academic journey. Though this idea is still in its infancy, I am happy to see that Christian scholarship is catching up with the most recent trends in technology though the effort remains minimal. In this article, I delved into the concept of 'Homo Digitalis' and how the academic and church communities are adapting to the changes brought about by modern technology, focusing on the challenges and opportunities presented in the digital world.

Conclusion

Despite the many setbacks in life, the above articles provided me with enough reason to be thankful to the Lord this 2024. Nonetheless, this also helps me in my Hive journey, giving me a perspective, a bird's eyeview. There are times that the journey in life seems too long and exhausting. However, when it comes to Hive, though there are times that my energy was low due to overwhleming responsibilities, by the grace of God, I still managed to find the motivation to get up, write, and engage. The ability to see the total picture, I find the motivation to continue despite the small steps I am taking on a daily basis. My comfort is that as days pass, I know that I am closer to my goal than the previous days, weeks, and months.

Writing this article is my way to greet and wish Hivians a more productive 2025! Happy New Year!!!

The dedication you have for succeeding on Hive is really commendable. It reminds me of people that I've come across over the years here that are just super-focused and determined to maximize their efforts here. And I have seen it work well!

so - as long as you're enjoying it - I hope you continue with victory! hehe

as far as the writing slump... those come and go. Don't focus on them - just wait until you are inspired to write again with joy - and then unleash! :)

Writing is always best that way! hehe

Yeah, you're right. During downtime, it seems that ideas are too dry and scarce, and very difficult to organize them. On other days, writing appears easy especially when specific ideas inspire you.

until then... always a good practice to read and enjoy others - and drop comments.. make connections.. build your 'Tribe' heheh
