In the city of Budapest, there was once a man named John Smiley. He was a young and talented violinist who was becoming a well-known virtuoso. However, the success that Smiley was getting, was transforming him into a pedantic and very abusive individual who was increasingly blinded by his own arrogance.

Deborah, was a very hardworking Gypsy woman, who had been saving up for weeks to take her granddaughter, Yaneli, who was just starting to study violin, to see a John Smiley concert at the majestic Opera House in Budapest.

Deborah, managed to raise the money and gave her granddaughter the surprise of going to see Smiley's performance. Yaneli and Deborah were delighted with the presentation, as were the rest of the audience, since Smiley's performance was more than outstanding, and the audience rewarded him with a thunderous ovation that lasted for minutes and that conveyed the feeling of everyone present at the concert.

Deborah took Yaneli to the entrance of the dressing rooms after the concert, wishing for the opportunity for her granddaughter to meet the virtuoso violinist. And with nervousness and a lot of expectations, both, but above all Yaneli, she was waiting to meet her idol.

When John Smiley came out of his dressing room, Deborah approached him, and asking permission in a respectful and humble way, introduced him to her granddaughter, and told him that she was starting to study violin and that he was her inspiration and also both expressed the admiration they felt for his music.

But Smiley, instead of thanking them, despised and mistreated them, deeply hurting and humiliating Deborah and Yaneli in front of everyone present.

And every applause you receive while the curse lasts will be a torment for your soul, and only the pity and love of those who listen to you and especially that of the children will be able to save you. But in your punishment you will be in ugly and horrifying that to children and adults, you will inspire them with so much fear that no one will come near you. And so you will be until the curse ends, or until God judges you in the final judgment."

John Smiley, when he heard it, smiled and then mocked the curse and Deborah and her, calling her ignorant and mediocre, then leaving with contempt.

After that fact, a couple of years passed, and Smiley reached the peak of his career as a violinist and was invited to a monumental concert at the Roman Colosseum in Rome, where the elite of international classical music gathered, to see the best exponents.

When Smiley performed at the concert, his performance was superb and majestic, and after receiving a prolonged applause, Smiley raised his hands in a gesture of greatness and smile of happiness and at that moment, when he was most blissful for his career he died suddenly on stage.

After Smiley's death, a terrifying phenomenon arose in Europe and the United States and it was due to classical music concert-goers, in particular children, claiming that a clown with a terrifying demonic face appeared in their dreams.

This clown could not speak, only laugh and make gestures and, when the children cried or the adults got scared, the clown would play the violin in a majestic way to calm them down. And despite the ugliness of the clown, the music was so beautiful that the one who listened to it in his dreams could not stop clapping. At that moment, when they were clapping, they would hear the clown screaming in pain between his laughter and then he would disappear, moaning and crying, between sounds of laughter, pain and crying.

Thus was born the legend of Smiley, the violinist demon, who still plays his beautiful music in the dreams of concert spectators and especially in children, waiting for a tear of compassion that never comes and receiving the eternal pain caused by applause.

He is haunted for eternity, by his macabre laughter and his eternal torment, remembering the curse of a Gypsy woman who condemned him forever, for being a miserable and abusive man, who hid his arrogance with people, in his musical greatness.
