💥 New Bill Alert: H.R. 372 Drug Testing for Welfare Recipients Act

Introduced in the House on January 13, 2025, this bill would require drug testing for people applying for welfare programs like TANF (cash assistance), food stamps (SNAP), and certain public housing programs.

Here’s the breakdown:

If someone’s been arrested for a drug-related crime in the past five years, they’d have to pass a drug test to get benefits.

If they haven’t been arrested, they’d go through a screening to see if they’re at risk for substance abuse.

If they’re considered high risk, they’d still need to pass a drug test.

If low risk, no test required.

Anyone who fails a test loses benefits for a year—unless they complete treatment or test clean later.

Their family members can still receive benefits.

States that don’t enforce it could lose federal funding the next year.

Now here’s the kicker most of us working 40+ hours a week have to pass drug tests just get and to keep a job.

But if you’re living off government benefits, suddenly testing becomes unfair Or racist 🤔

So what do you think?
if the working class has to stay clean to earn a paycheck, should welfare recipients also have to pass a drug test?

👉 For it or against it?
