Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Le Mans
In the late 30’s AR created an aerodynamic sports racing car based upon modified 8C 2900B which was a road going version of their Mille Miglia 2900A racing car.
Built based upon a steel ladder-frame chassis with aluminium coupe bodywork and powered by a twin-supercharged DOHC inline 8-cyl 2905cc (220hp) engine with a 4-speed manual transmission.
Five 2900B completion chassis were produced and clothed in open/roadster bodywork by Touring, but only one Le Mans Coupe was created.
Only ten 2900A’s were produced between 1935/36 with just over 30 road going 2900B’s produced between 1937/38, with detuned 180hp engines.
Despite leading the 1938 24hours of Le Mans, mechanical failure sealed its fate and it never ran again at Le Mans.
