"Up and Down", in the middle of #BeerSaturday challenge week 367

(Edited)

I'm listening to the song of the famous Yugoslav group "Bajaga i instruktori" and my mind is #BEER!

Someone would ask, what does Bajaga's song "Gore, dole (Up and down)" have to do with Beer, and someone else would know the answer by the name of the song...😀

Anyone who is a little more knowledgeable about beer styles and preparation methods would know the answer.

I wasn't until recently, but after a little education, I started to distinguish styles and varieties of beer.

Now I have taken two representatives of those styles for this week #BeerSaturday contest.

One Lager (modern beer) for "DOLE (Down)" and one from the APA (IPA) style whose preparation roots date back centuries, for "GORE (Up)" ..

One style involves preparation at lower temperatures, when yeast cultures of Saccharomyces uvarum are used for acloholic fermentation (for which fermentation starts already at a temperature of 6-8°C), which after the fermentation process settles at the bottom of the fermentation vessel, remains DOWN, so we get bottom boiling beer - Lager.
It is the most widespread beer in the world, a refreshing beer. Just what I need right now.

As for the second style, it is used for alcoholic fermentation yeast from the Saccharomyces cerevisiae culture, where fermentation begins at higher temperatures, over 10°C, and after the end of the fermentation process, the yeast remains on the surface. It stays UP.

And so in front of me on the table, cooled to the appropriate temperature, two beers, from two local breweries.

Lager from Salto brewery and SuperNova, IPA from Kabinet.

UP, DOWN 😀

Since the days are too hot this weekend, I need to freshen up as soon as possible.
The first beer I consume is Lager, at a low serving temperature, around 5°C, with a low alcohol %.
Beer with a lower percentage of extract, which has 4.8% alcohol, is less bitter, 28IBU, and very light, 8EBC.

it was drunk in two gulps!

This second SuperNova IPA beer, for the preparation of which four types of hops are used, German Magnum and American: Willamette, Centennial and Simcoe, has 15.5% extract, higher percentage of alcohol (6.8%), higher bitterness (51 IBU) and slightly darker color (20EBC).

SuperNova is the first Serbian IPA beer from 2014.
The taste is dominated by melon, mango and tangerine, and when you smell it, you can imagine that there is a basket of fruit next to you. An excellent combination of fruit aromas to continue refreshment with a beer with a slightly fuller taste.

I drank it slowly, to feel the full taste and all the aromas that this beer has.
