A walk at dusk in the old town of Podgorica

This Wednesday was too long for me. After the flight from Belgrade to Podgorica, we had a few meetings and after work we went for a "short" #WednesdayWalk to the old town of Podgorica.

Straight from the hotel, through Petrovića Park to the beautiful Villa Petrovića, we passed through a beautiful row of chestnut trees.

The fountain and the well are now defunct, but the architecture is beautiful and it is very easy to imagine what it looks like when the water flows through the fountain.

From the park, we go out onto the boulevard, where a sign directs us to the old town and the Clock Tower, one of the recognizable symbols of Podgorica.

We walk through the neighborhood with old stone houses and come across graffiti depicting the name of this part of the city "Stara varoš", which do not fit at all painted on the walls next to the old stone houses.

Passing through Stara Varoš, we come to the remains of the walls of the fortress on the bank of the Morača river, and there we come across the beautiful stone Old Ribnica river bridge.

Benches on the shore near the old town with a view of Morača are an excellent location for a break.

Real rest and refreshment we found in the "Pod Volat" restaurant, near the Clock Tower.
We order the specialty of this town, "Podgorički popeci" (fried veal steak stuffed with cheese and prosciutto) and a pint of Montenegrin Nikšić beer.

After a delicious dinner, we continue our leisurely walk towards the hotel, passing by a beautiful fountain, with a photo of which I sign off for today.
I'm going on a well-deserved rest (it was clear to me that the rest was well-deserved the moment my watch showed me over 24,000 steps).

I hope that this Wednesday was as interesting for you as it was for me and that you had the opportunity to take a walk. I'm signing off, with a big greeting!

Thank you for stopping by my post and I hope you enjoyed the photos and the story I shared with you

Wow! So many great pictures! It's awesome that you get to travel for work. You might say it was a "short" walk, that was a LOT you got to see in that time! Amazing!

Aw, I see the chestnut trees in flowers 😍

That is cool that you can fly from Belgrade to Podgorica, it is better than taking the road. The bridge over Moraca is lovely, it could take us back a few centuries 😇

The flowering of the chestnut tree is really beautiful 🙂

Yesterday I went on the road from Podgorica to the sea, it was raining so hard (I wrote about that water yesterday), combined with the fog over the mountains above Budva, that I barely drove those 80-90 km.

I think the fountain is currently turned off and will be put back into operation when the summer season begins.
Especially for the reason that the entrance to the park where the fountain is located faces the building of the American embassy.
It is clear to you that I could not take pictures of that object, there were a lot of armed guards and several large signs "Photographing is forbiden"🙂
