One more weekend day

Sunday, day two of our weekend trip

After a great night, in which we celebrated 50th anniversary:
Golden wedding anniversary

we had a slightly harder time waking up in the morning. We were in no hurry to leave the room and go to breakfast. We lounged on the comfortable bed for a while and read (some were reading books and others were reading posts).

The breakfast was phenomenal, salty and sweet, with lots of tasty snacks.

Considering that the day was cloudy and it was not warm, our plan to swim in the pool completely failed (it's a shame, because we chose this hotel because it has a pool).

Next time we choose a hotel with an indoor pool.

After breakfast, we went out to the promenade and visited another symbol of the city.

There is a sculpture of a large sparrow that has been winking at passers-by for years.

And these "metal gentlemen" holding umbrellas...

We walked around the spa park and enjoyed the beautiful flower gardens.

We visited the stands and counters with "Licidersko" hearts and various cured meat products.

We admired the works of fine artists under a clear sky...

We visited stalls with handicrafts and books.

After the walk, we took a break at the rest house, where I, as usual, took the opportunity to take a nap (this is my favorite picture from every trip).

We went to the mineral springs for healing water and threw coins into the Roman spring for good health.

Later we drank a cup of hot chocolate and decided to go to the nearby mountain peak (Goč).

And on the mountain, we had a pleasant surprise.
Instead of an empty glade, we encountered a large crowd.
We didn't know that on Sunday there was a log pulling horse competition.

A large number of people gathered to support their neighbors, who came to participate with their horses in this competition.

What is the task of the competition?

Two harnessed horses on an uphill, have to pull out the log in the shortest possible time.

I felt a little sorry for those horses, why do they harness them like that, but when I saw the logs on the side of the road, I realized how they got there, pulled out of the dense forest...

I felt sorry for the bull even more than the horse, which ended up on the spit for the celebration and lunch.

I walked around and took pictures of the horses waiting their turn to compete.

Beautiful animals.

I was not allowed to get too close to them, their owners told me that they are not used to big crowds, since they spend their whole lives in the woods, engaged in hard work, pulling heavy logs out of the forest to the road.

After a couple of hours, we headed home.

On the way, we stopped for lunch.

Roast pork with cabbage salad, and thus put an end to the weekend adventure in Vrnjačka banja.

@galenkp I had to split my weekend experience into two posts, luckily I didn't go on an extended weekend, I would have never finished this post 😀
