Rising insecurity as I was robbed again the 4th time this year
The air hung heavy with the scent of night-blooming jasmine as I stepped into the tricycle through the deserted streets. Darkness had fallen like a thick curtain, swallowed by the flickering streetlamps that cast long, skeletal shadows on the cracked pavement. My phone, clutched tightly in my hand, felt like a beacon in the gloom, illuminating the map app that guided me towards my destination as I journey towards the quest of an Errand.
An errand, nothing more. A quick stop at the pharmacy for medication, a necessity that couldn't wait until dawn. But in the quiet of the night, even the mundane felt laden with an unsettling sense of possibility. Every rustle of leaves, every distant echo of a car, sent a shiver down my spine as I felt weird as if something was coming for me.
Ahead, a dark alleyway yawned like an open maw, its gaping entrance shrouded in an inky blackness. As I approached, the air grew thick with an oppressive silence, broken only by the rhythmic click-clack of as I stepped out of the tricycle . A sudden unease gripped me, urging me to turn back, to find another route, any other route.
But the pharmacy was just a few blocks away, and the thought of returning home empty-handed fueled a stubborn streak within me. I pressed on, forcing myself to focus on the illuminated screen of my phone, a fragile shield against the encroaching darkness.
And then, it happened. A figure materialized out of the shadows, seemingly out of thin air. One moment the alleyway was empty, the next, it was filled with a hulking silhouette, its features obscured by the darkness.
Fear, cold and sharp, coursed through my veins. I froze, my heart hammering against my ribs like a trapped bird. The figure moved with a predatory grace, swift and silent. Before I could even scream, a hand snaked out from the darkness, snatching my phone with a practiced ease.
Panic turned to rage as I lunged for him, my fingers brushing against the rough fabric of his clothing. But he was too quick, too strong. With a shove, he sent me reeling back, crashing to the ground.
I landed on the hard pavement, the wind knocked out of me. Dazed and disoriented, I watched as the figure melted back into the shadows, swallowed by the night like a phantom.
He took everything. My phone, my money, my sense of security. The world seemed to tilt on its axis, leaving me adrift in a sea of fear and uncertainty. I lay there, the harsh light of the streetlamp illuminating my tears, feeling utterly violated and alone.
Slowly, the reality of the situation dawned on me. I had been robbed, stripped of not just my possessions, but also my sense of safety. The night, once a cloak of anonymity, now felt like a predator's playground.
But as I lay there, a spark of defiance flickered within me. I wouldn't let this break me. I would rise from the ashes, stronger and more vigilant. I would not be a victim.
With trembling hands, I picked myself up, dusted myself off, and straightened my legs . The pharmacy was out of the question now, but I wouldn't go home empty-handed. I would continue, not for the medicine, but for myself.
I would move through the night, not in fear, but in defiance. I would reclaim the streets, one revolution of the move at a time. The night may have taken my possessions, but it would not take my spirit. I would move on, into the darkness, a lone warrior in the face of adversity.
As I now accepted my device is gone and all the softwares and app I didn't back up are as good as gone, but was fill with hope as I wasn't hunt in anyway and settling that I will need to get a new device so I can go back to business as usual, so that's why I have been offline for the pass few days I had to empty my account in other for me to get a decent phone which cost me about 80$ which is all the funds I had save to send for the Christmas but I believe more funds is too come as long as am connected online and can interact with the universe.
