CENT: A Platform for Economics and Hive as the Blockchain for Web 3.0

Glad to know that the CENT community is into economics. I have been reprimanded once for improperly using a tribe tag. I think the best way not to repeat such mistake is to inform yourself first about the focused topics of the tribe before using their related tag. That’s a kind of showing respect, which is badly needed in the digital world.

This morning, I published a short post and again I mistakenly used a tribe’s tag that doesn’t like self-voting. I think that will be my last offense against that tribe.

Speaking of economics, I have been informally studying the subject since 2009. I have economic blogs on both WordPress and blogspot.com for more than 10 years already. Of course, my content is neither professional nor academic. It’s more of a layman’s perspective seeking for answers to the problems that trouble me. Unfortunately, I lost the motivation to write on those blogs since the day I realized that the pandemic was highly politicized.

Finding CENT, I am thinking that perhaps I can continue writing on the subject using this platform. Moreover, due to my regrettable experience of losing several months of my articles written some time in 2009 as a result of cyber-attack, I realized that my content using Web 2.0 was very vulnerable. Of course, that was my mistake and I could not blame anyone for my negligence to back up my articles using either my hard drive or the available cloud storage. I was too trusting and too naïve, and at that same time, perhaps too lazy to do the necessary steps to secure my content. Even until now I struggle recalling those topics. I could not rewrite them for the inspiration of the moment has already disappeared and could not be recovered. And that is why in my mind, there is something like a gap that exists between the last surviving article in that blog and the time that I resumed writing after almost a year of taking a rest.

Now that we have the blockchain technology and a Web 3.0 platform like Hive, I think there is no better way to protect your content than publishing your articles here. And so, I am not sure if my plan is acceptable to the community just in case that after reviewing some articles in my previous blogs and I find relevant materials there, then I would decide to rewrite them and post them here, do you think, would that be acceptable?

As a test post, I would like to share here the article I published 19th of last month. This post is actually aimed to invite my friends and readers (though they are few), using it as an easy bridge in their migration to Hive. In this case, I won’t rewrite it for I consider most of the content still relevant. Here is the whole piece:

Since June 2020, realizing that the pandemic is highly politicized, I stopped following it. I consider it a waste of time to argue with those who are gullible to mainstream narrative. I thought the insanity will just stay for a year or two. I never expected that it will last more than two years, and still there is no indication that it will stop soon. This to me is unacceptable. I could not believe that almost everybody I know would give up their sovereignty over their own body and hand the decision to the State.

Fast forward, after a year of pushing people into financial cliff, a new global trend emerged. In search for livelihood, many people around the world particularly in the Philippines have found play to earn as a viable alternative. A typical example of this is what happened in Cabanatuan City as shared by this documentary video. Of course, the hype lasted only for few months, and now that the price of the tokens involved are falling, not a few started to lose interest to this new trend.

July last year, two things happened that changed my financial direction. One is the advent of the COVID variant that caused me to stop trading the Philippine Stock market. The other one is related to Axie Infinity. My eldest son asked me a capital for his share in creating a gaming account. To make it short, these events motivated me to study blockchain and cryptocurrency. After six months of studying this new field, I stumble with two projects. One is now in an enclosed mainnet and just recently released that it will be opened either by 14 March or 28 June this year. The other one is also a young project, but already has 100 plus apps built on it.

At this point, I will just focus on the second blockchain – Hive! To give you an overview what Hive is, read this review from Finbold.
