Born Free: The Hive Rebellion

For my third song for Hive, this time the theme is about the fork that won in March 2020. It is good to be reminded of this historical background of Hive to achieve its current status as "a chain owned by no one and governed by everyone."

The prompt that I used to create this song was taken from hive.io:

In March 2020, a hostile takeover threatened to centralize a blockchain. The community refused. We forked, taking our code, our content, and our principles with us.

This time the musical and instrumental style is more elaborate:

anthemic electronic rock, cinematic arena build, male belt vocals, call and response, Hammond organ pads, overdriven electric guitar, palm-muted chugs, synth bass ostinato, layered toms, snare clap stack, sidechain pumping, analog tape saturation, wide stereo chorus, halftime breakdown, 128 BPM, spoken bridge, communal singalong, triumphant chorus lift

Here are the lyrics of this "freedom song." I hope you like it.

[Verse 1]
March of twenty-twenty, the storm came near,
A shadow of control, a future unclear.
A network once built for the people to thrive,
Now faced with a question: Who owns the hive?
Power was gathering, votes were at stake,
The community watched as the system could break.
But voices arose from the code and the chain,
“We will not surrender what we built in the name.”
[Pre-Chorus]
Who holds the power? Who makes the call?
The whales with the tokens? The few over all?
The code or the voters? The witnesses too?
The builders, the users—
What will we do?
[Chorus]
We rise! We rise! We will not be controlled!
Our code, our voices, our future we hold.
No single throne, no master, no king,
Together we build, together we bring.
From the ashes of Steem, a new chain came alive—
Born from the people,
We became Hive!
[Verse 2]
We took what we built, we carried it on,
The code and the stories would not be gone.
Our history with us, our principles strong,
A community moving together along.
A fork in the road, but a future begun,
Not ruled by a company, not owned by one.
The network belongs where the people decide,
With witnesses chosen to stand by our side.
[Pre-Chorus]
Who holds the power? Who makes the call?
The exchanges and developers, the voters and all?
If decentralization is more than a name,
Then power must never belong to one claim.
[Chorus]
We rise! We rise! We will not be controlled!
Our code, our voices, our future we hold.
No single throne, no master, no king,
Together we build, together we bring.
From the ashes of Steem, a new chain came alive—
Born from the people,
We became Hive!
[Bridge — Spoken / Dramatic Build]
March 2020.
A choice was made.
Not by one company.
Not by one powerful owner.
Not by one voice.
But by a community.
And the question remained:
Who controls a decentralized network?
The code?
The token holders?
The witnesses?
The developers?
The exchanges?
Or the community itself?
The answer was Hive.
[Breakdown]
No master!
No throne!
No single hand!
Our code!
Our voice!
Our community!
Hive!
[Final Chorus]
We rise! We rise! We will not be controlled!
Our code, our voices, our future we hold.
No single throne, no master, no king,
Together we build, together we bring.
From a battle for freedom, a new chain survived,
A community's vision forever alive.
No one owns the network, together we strive—
Born from resistance,
We became Hive!
[Final Outro]
No master.
No throne.
No single owner.
One community.
One network.
One Hive.
From the fork came freedom.
From the struggle came life.
We are Hive.
Hive is alive.

The first two songs for Hive:

I enjoy listening to this music. I hope you find it pleasurable too.

Grace and peace!
