How do you deal with conflict? Are you the tackle it head on sort of person, or do you avoid it? Tell us what your style is, and feel free to share an example.

Hello The Weekend Community! I'm here today to participate on this weeks #weekend-engagement concept by @galenkp. The topics for this week is quite challenging since it more about us as a person. Although this topics might be easy for some but honestly it was much harder for me since I don't even know much about myself 🤣

Conflict Management

Conflict is everywhere, it is part of our nature as human beings and it has been a driving force for us to grow. But managing conflict is quite a very tricky thing, there is a very fine line between a fruitful confrontation and total destruction. It can be a trigger for personal growth or it can trigger your own demise. Sounds very hard to believe isn't it? How can a simple conflict cause for one's demise? Well let's just say the other person doesn't agree with you and you have been at each others faces to the point of no return? What do you think will happen? Conflicts have caused a lot of death toll over the years and you might even find it surprising how a simple argument can lead to one's grave. Some people easily lose their tempers when in conflict. It would be great if the only thing that you will lose is the relationship you have with person you are arguing with. That is why I said there is a fine line in conflicts.

That's not to say that conflicts are always bad, sometimes conflicts are fruitful like how most scientists argues with other scientists. Meaningful arguments happen when both parties are open-minded. Admitting to one's own mistake is not an easy thing to pull off. As long as one is not stubborn enough to think that he/she is always in the correct and perfect then one could experience meaningful conflicts.

How I Manage Conflicts

If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. - Sun Tzu
Know your enemy and know yourself - Although it might look like I'm trying to win the battle here but I am not. If I know who I am talking to then it would be much easier for me to determine whether I should continue arguing or not. It's hard to argue with stubborn and close minded people so why bother? It would be just a waste of my precious time and effort trying to explain something to someone who doesn't know how to listen. If I know that the person I am talking to is open-minded then I will not hold back my arguments coz I know I might learn a thing or two from this person. It doesn't matter who won the argument because at the end of the day, the person who learned something new is the true winner in my book.

To some winning a conflict/argument boost their self-esteem and pride. To me self-esteem and pride is only good when you are alive. When you're dead all of those things means nothing, so choose the people you argue with. Running away from conflict is fine, it is probably the best strategy there is. But always remember...

Even a rabbit will bite once it is cornered.

I like that. It's something that people don't see and yet it's powerful and transformative if you use it.

Thanks for a great post. I've been meaning to read the art of war for about 3 years, I really should make it happen.

That is true, because it is quite hard to find people who are totally open-minded. Some people just make it look like they are open-minded but are totally not. Especially in todays life were almost everyone wants to fit in so it's hard to find the real from the fakes.

True this. No point arguing to some know-it-all people at times. So when they say 1 plus 1 equals 11 let them be. Balaclajan! Hahahahahaha

Haha it's quite a coincidence mami because that is my featured photo on my facebook account. The age of attitude. It really is quite hard to find people who are truly open-minded. So far I have only met a very few people who would correct me for my mistakes instead of criticizing me and would take my opinions without getting angry.

It is quite sad that is why most people today either try to fit in or just distance themselves away

Very good my friend it is a tough subject i tend to try and avoid it even walk away the best i can as i had to deal with a lot of conflict when i lived on the streets and in my life before that.

Now all i do is look for the peace where possible but conflict is not a problem if needed.

Have the best weekend my friend😎
