We are Alive! September 30th, 2022
Getting ready for a day of rest, we are cleaning the house and I'm finishing up work for the week.
My youngest daughter was asking for "un-nanas" (bananas) so we made a special trip this morning to the grocery store for bananas. On the way back, we saw this sign in our neighborhood and began to wonder what topics will be discussed in this community meeting.
Curious.
We're not on Facebook (we don't post for free), so we we're left scratching our heads. Maybe we should check it out.

Nowadays I am active in five communities on Facebook (real communities with real friends with mutual interests), and I also see the posts of others on Facebook, and I use it to contact my friends and relatives too. I can learn from Facebook (gaining knowledge, getting information), so Facebook can be useful, if you use it properly. Many people use it mostly only to post and see funny photos/videos and quotes. While those are good, there is also an actual useful side of Facebook, which makes it worth to use, even if you do not earn a single cent from using it.
I used to be very active on FB, it was difficult for me to delete my account there. I lost contact with a bunch of people I reconnected with, I just felt my information was being mistreated there.
This aspect is completely understandable. Facebook is selling/giving the user data to advertiser companies and to who knows to who. On Facebook, the users are "products". Facebook is making millions of dollars with them, without giving any money back to the users.
Keep living

I also don't post for free. Facebook and co, profiting from our work sounds crazy to me.
Time is valuable, to pay fairly the time put into generating blockchain content, HIVE would have to be valued about $10 - 20 USD each. Trouble is there are more people blogging and cashing out for other cryptos, then there are people cashing in their other cryptos for HIVE to promote their blogging! As soon as HIVE reaches a few dollars, everyone (admittedly myself included) gets excited and dumps their HIVE and the price goes back under a dollar.
We undervalue our time and effort. IF we can have the discipline to hold until HIVE reaches something closer to $10, we might actually see $10 or more in HIVE value. This scenario is what will reward "back pay" for all the effort put in today. People with large stakes (HP) understand this is a long game.
Isnt that what we are supposed to do though? Sell high and buy low? I totally get what you are saying though. Let's see how it will progress. The numbers just aren't there at the moment, but let's see for how long it stays on the fringe.
Yes. Of course. I've been earning STEEM/HIVE for five years and only sell "high". My point is that perhaps we underestimate what "high" really is. It may seem like $2 or $3 is really high, but maybe we're missing out on some great future potential by overlooking the future value of HIVE. I think we may be underselling it. Sort of like when people sold BTC at $3000 thinking they're cashing in at the peak.
But I suppose HIVE is only worth what people are willing to hold it at. It could go to $0.10 or less, I can't predict the future. It could go to $100 or more, it's not impossible.
What I'm excited about is all the new earning potential HIVE is offering through delegations, miner tokens, reward tokens, and games, etc.
Yes, I agree, trying to time these things isn't usually a smart move.
There are so many factors at play and human behaviors to be aware of, it is hard to say how things will go with Hive. I am generally positive about it because it is so useable compared to other cryptos. Bad actors and behavior of some is a concern for me though, but this is the same in all endeavors. (The saying, "To cut their nose off, to spite their face" comes to mind).
The earning potential is huge, it reminds me of when eBay first started, with opportunities aplenty!
You are over 4 years ahead of me on Hive, so appreciate your insights.
Learn from mistakes more than from "victories". I can only give two lessons:
The first lesson I learned when HIVE went up high and I didn't have any liquid I could sell and I missed the boat. Now I keep about 10 - 15% liquid in case HIVE rocketships.
Now the second lesson I learned when HIVE went up and I sold for BCH, intending to purchase AG. I sold about 50% of my liquid hive while it was $3. Seems like prudent trade, but selling for BCH was a mistake. I procrastinated, waiting for BCH to go up, until I sort of forgot about it. By the time I looked at BCH again to buy AG, it had lost most of it's value. About a year's worth of work was lost. Had I sold it for HBD instead and put it in savings, I would be way better off. I could be buying a lot more HIVE for cheap right now. Hive and HBD and tokens can be put to work unlike any other crypto I know. Now if HIVE rockets, it's going straight to HBD.
The lessons we learn.
Thanks for those lessons, it is appreciated. Those are very important things to keep in mind. I hope in the long term it will all pay off for us and we don't slip up.
