he should change his mind
I have often thought about this passage, that God cannot change His mind. I used to think He cannot change His decisions or judgement, but I've come to understand that it is the mind of God that is unchangeable, but the judgment of God is both Just and Merciful and His decision can change based on His righteous discernment.
It is the mind of man that makes unjust decisions and unrighteous judgments, because it is the mind of man that is corrupted from the image of God, changing with every new doctrine, blinded by bribes and unequal weights. God does change His mind, like man.
we henceforth be no more children, wavering and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the deceit of men, and with craftiness Ephesians 4:14
We have theological terms for that—anthropomorphism and anthropopatism—ascribing human traits and human emotions to God. Due to human limitation, that's how we explain our perceived changes in God. However, in reality, God does not change, for He is perfect, eternal, and all-knowing. He is outside of time and therefore not subject to the changes of temporal existence. Change would imply imperfection, lack of knowledge, or deficiency, none of which apply to God. In a world that is constantly changing, His immutable character tells us that we can trust Him despite everything, for He is not influenced by circumstances or external factors.
