Finding My Wings
I used to think freedom was a vast open field like An endless sky with no horizon where every direction was a possibility and every choice was mine to make It was a thrilling idea this complete and utter lack of limits i chased it in my career in my creative projects, even in my daily schedule with More options more opportunities and more everything. But I’ve come to realize that kind of freedom for me is a mirage, It doesn’t feel like flying it feels like floating untethered and aimless like the infinite choices become paralyzing. The blank page isn’t an invitation it's a void I’d spend more time deciding what to create what to do, or who to be than actually doing any of it. That "absolute" freedom began to feel surprisingly like a cage of its own making.
My perspective shifted when I started watching the butterflies in our garden they are the universal symbol of free-spiritedness, right they flit and flutter without a care in the world. But one day i really watched one It wasn’t just randomly careening through the air as It was moving with intention from one flower to the next staying within the bounds of the garden as it riding the currents of the wind it couldn’t control.
Its beautiful flight wasn’t boundless It was bounded By its need for nectar by the borders of the garden, by the very air it flew in and yet within those boundaries, it was utterly breathtakingly free Its limits didn’t restrict its beauty as they gave it a stage they gave its freedom a purpose.
That’s when it clicked for me that true freedom isn’t the absence of fences it’s finding the right fences. It’s about building a structure that allows my energy to flow with purpose not dissipate into the ether.
I started applying this everywhere and behold this changed into a new perspective.
