THOUGH DEATH BUT IMPACT SPEAKS

Hi great family,
I want to appreciate God for the grace to be alive in this new month and the opportunity to participate in week 117 edition 01 engagement on this beautiful platform. The topic for this edition is quite rich for me. It made me to have a deep reflection on what has befallen my family recently. Some of you were quite aware because I shared a glimpse of it however in this post intend to share the best moment shared with these two personalities that became an unforgettable experience.

The first person I would like to share was my uncle that's my father's younger brother. (Same father and mother). His life before death was really an example for me and even his death was a thick lesson for me. My uncle lost his wife in 1990 after a brief illness. Since then he couldn't remarried untill 2010. Between these periods, I had the privilege to stay with him after my secondary School education in 2004. I couldn't make all the required papers therefore there was need to resit in order to make it up. He gave me good counsel to stay and prepare my self for the external exams. I resist it but count it as a good idea.

He gave me money for registration of which I went and successfully got enrolled. I started preparing and reading assiduously towards the exams. I had to integrate between the house chores and my exams. I must say it was in this house that I learnt how to prepare sumptuous meal. This learning process exposed me to lots of good things and my network also expanded. Since he was highly placed in the civil service, he even retired as a state director of primary Health Care service before he proceeded with his academic pursuit and finally secured a lecturing job. He was such a hand working personality that had passion for success and hated laziness. He was always up and doing.

My uncle was the most enlightened person in the family who later risen to the rank of professor in clinical psychology in a university within my state. He was a pioneer of psychology department and a strong member of psychology Association of Nigeria. He was able to impart so many people both at degree, master degree and PhD levels as well. I could remembered when he used to bring some project work home for assistance. Truly it was a great lost to the entire university community. His imprint in that school remains indelible.

It was on 31st March,2024 that my uncle died after a long illness. I was shocked when I returned from an outreach and my kid sister called to inform me of the ugly incidence. The news really scattered my mood that day but I can't question God why. Some of the things I learnt from him was his act of sacrificial giving and support for academic advancement. Virtually everyone in the family had a taste of him in one way or the other. He was also a committed and devout Christian and I can personally testify about this because I saw the real life then when he was alive. Time and space may fail me to share more.

The year was quite challenging as I earlier said. My uncle died on 31st hmm as we are murning his death on 2nd April,2024 the wife to the younger brother to my uncle(my dad's last born) slumped and died. We conveyed her corps to the mortuary and deposited it close to my late uncle. What a tragedy. The woman was key during and after my wedding. She was like a second mother to me because where I live is far from my biological parent place. Their house was my second house. Sincerely it was very hard on me and not easy to hold it but to cry...

Thank God for all their lives and legacies left behind, I have learned lots from the two incidence. I have enlarged my heart and emotional balanced now to confront other life challenges. I need to make impact too now that I am alive.

Thanks for reading through.

all pictures were my own.

Wow, this year is a tough one for your family. To loss a well learned person like your uncle is really deep and painful. It’s good that he has blessed and impacted lives before leaving.
