Weekend cooking, an obligation, necessity or passion?
In my life, there are two types of weekends.
Those when I have obligations on business activities, either on the computer or in the field, as well as when I don't have any obligations.
Weekends when I work are not worth mentioning, I consider them a waste of my time.
And these others are already worth mentioning.
I divide those weekend days into two categories, depending on weather conditions and time of year.
One is when I go on a trip on Friday night and come back late Sunday night or early Monday morning and immediately go to work (days when it's a good time for trips)...
Or on these more relaxed ones, when I make a short trip and have lunch in a restaurant one day , and I dedicate the second day to housework and preparing the family lunch.
Housework and work related to preparing lunch are not a man's favorite work, but I love them.
I like to clean the house, wash the dishes, wash the windows, vacuum, and most of all, I like to cook.
For this reason, I chose the following topic suggested by @galenkp:
"Many people enjoy cooking for enjoyment over the weekend, as there's more time for it. Do you cook or prepare food more on the weekends due to more time, or do you choose more takeout or pre-prepared food?"
I prepare savory dishes, but also cookies and cakes...
I have my favorite recipes, which I have brought to perfection...
Today there was no dilemma about the dish I would prepare. I decided to make my favorite pasta for the family lunch - Tagliatelle with chicken in Pesto sauce.
I already shared this recipe on Hive, so I don't want to repeat myself.
Here are some pictures from today's preparation - going to the store to get groceries and a moment from the kitchen, as well as the appearance of the plate with the finished dish.
The only dilemma I had was the choice of Pesto sauce. I decided on Barila Pesto sauce, which is my favorite.
As today was not a good time for a walk, we did not go out into the city, so in addition to preparing lunch, vacuuming and washing the dishes, there was also time to prepare a dessert.
We have tried several times to make Princess donuts (Cream puffs) with various recipes, but the recipe does not work for us. The yellow pastry filling turns out great, but our scallops don't grow as they should. Today we tried a new ratio of ingredients. Finally the recipe worked. Princess donuts turned out perfect.
And so, on Saturday we had a complete lunch.
For tomorrow, we are already planning a short trip and lunch in a restaurant.
I think I'll share tomorrow in another post.
Have a nice evening everyone, I'm off to enjoy Princess donuts while they're still available.
