Weekend concert, bands, theatre and live shows - My choice: Theaters

20230205_191755.jpg

Living in a big city has many disadvantages.
Very little contact with nature, too much crowd, big pollution.
But there are also many advantages.
More options for education, for finding employment, more sports and cultural events...

In Belgrade, in the city where I live, there are many theaters.
Even at an early age, I gained a love for the theater by visiting the theater with my school.
And as I grew up, that love for the theater did not diminish.
So even today, whenever I get a chance or a new play comes on in my favorite theaters, I buy tickets as soon as the repertoire for the next month appears.

National Theater, Belgrade Drama Theater, Yugoslav Drama Theater, Zvezdara Theater, Terazije Theater, Slavija Theater, Atelje 212, Academy 28, Bitef Theater, Theater on the Hill, Bosko Buha, Dadov, Madlenianum, Dusko Radovic, KPGT, Pan Theater, Pinocchio, The Snail, The Wolf Theater...

We rarely go to the National Theater. Ballets and operas are performed there, and those are not the kind of shows I like to watch. although it is obligatory to go to the most beautiful theater in Serbia once in a lifetime...

Of all the ones listed, I have my favorites.
Yugoslav Drama Theater, Terazije Theater and Slavija Theater.

The Yugoslav Drama Theater is, I believe, one of the largest in Belgrade, and the best actors from this region play in it.
For this reason, the performances that are played there are the best... Just imagine how difficult it is to get tickets. And the tickets are not cheap.

But I still buy them, as soon as they go on sale. No second thoughts, because they sell out quickly. There is great interest from the audience, and there are not enough places for everyone...
I will not allow myself to make the same mistake we made when we were in Prague, in the Czech Republic, and when we were thinking about buying too expensive tickets for the ballet "Swan Lake" and while we agreed to we still pay 45e each for the ticket, there were no more of the same. And we only then in Prague... A really big failure... Which I will not allow myself to do again.

Some of the best plays I have seen in the Yugoslav Drama Theater are: "The Merchant of Venice", "The Bug in the Ear", "Huddersfield", "Imaginary patient"...

Two months ago I watched "The development path of Bora Schneider".

And yesterday, I bought tickets for the shows: "The Glass Neck" and "Putujuće pozorište Šopalović", and I got a recommendation for: "Edip". That play is next...

In the theater on Terazije, musicals are played, in the Serbian version, some of the world's best plays. "Gypsies fly to the sky", "Chicago", "Mama Mai", "Phantom of the Opera", "Flashdance"...

I have seen all the performances of this theater and every season I eagerly await a new one.. until then, I visit other theaters and watch some older, top performances...

And the third favorite theater is Slavija theater.
Unlike the Yugoslav Drama Theater and the theater on Terazije, where tickets are expensive, the theater on Slavija We buy tickets for very little money.
For this reason, we stay in that theater most often.
The plays played in it are not bad at all.
Mostly comedies are played, where you can have a good laugh.

One performance on Monday, October 30 from the October season and then we move to the November 2023 season :-)
I can't wait for the day when I can go watch them and enjoy the acting skills of my favorite actors.

As always, all photos are mine.
Some before and after the start of the show were taken without warning, and for some photos I took during the show, I was warned by the guards on duty (which is completely fine - I support the decision to ban photography during the show - after all, it's not a concert, actors need concentration and should not be distracted by the light from mobile phone screens). For this reason there are very few pictures from the performances in progress 😀

@galenkp Thank you for these wonderful topics, according to my choice, you hit the mark with them.

I was delighted to learn about the advantages your country has, that part of education and employment caught my attention @duskobgd

I remember I went to a salsa concert, but I was underage, but I am very tall and I was able to pass, they didn't ask me for ID. Those images are world class, luxurious scenery, I really loved your publication and thank you for taking us to that place. My imagination flew. I think I'll stay a while longer in these spaces, enjoying what you like the most.

Long live Belgrade!

I'm glad you like it 😀
Enjoy!

Just so you understand me, I listed the advantages of living in a big city compared to living in a smaller city, using the example of Serbia.
In Serbia, all events are in Belgrade and several other larger cities.
The villages are mostly abandoned because no one wants to live in smaller communities.
Regarding employment. many of my colleagues (ICT sector) changed their workplace and got employed in large international companies that opened their representative offices in Serbia.

The pictures from the theater that I posted are just a small part of the beauty that you can see.
Both, the stage and the theaters themselves...
My favorite theaters in Terazije. in whose reconstruction I participated in 2003.
And definitely, the most beautiful, the National Theater.

PS. Belgrade really lives for a long time, before the roman era, almost prehistoric...

When I saw the photos of the National Theatre, I was mesmerized. It’s heavenly beautiful! It reminded me of all these theatres you’d see in movies.
Wonderful post and photos :)
