To drink or not to drink, that's the question now
Eternal dilemma!
And the answer lies not in a person's need (because alcohol is not one of his basic life needs), but depending on the environment in which he lives ( Not to mention religions that prohibit drinking alcohol).
Does the person who asks "To drink or not to drink" live in a society where it is socially acceptable to consume alcohol...
In such environments, you are looked at with astonishment if you do not want to drink an alcoholic drink.
They look at you strangely (those who got drunk) even if you drink and are not drunk.
Then that strange viewing can grow into pushing, which can sometimes end in unpleasant scenes - leaving such a company or a fight.
There was everything in my life, especially in my younger days...
Big company, frequent evening outings, discos, parties, barbecues...
At such events, in our country, there is always good drinking (sometimes a lot is eaten, but always a tot of drink).
It is drunk for birth, for death, it is drunk when you are happy or when you are sad, you drink it because of stress or out of boredom...
It is drunk to relax and cheer up...
It is drunk for any reason that can be justified...
And should it be drunk?
Is it healthy to drink?
Is the condition of having a good time always to take more glasses of alcohol?
If I were to ask my liver today, how many hectoliters of alcohol it processed in one part of my life, from my late 20s to my late 30s, I think my liver would count.
One thing is true, I didn't need that much alcohol to have a quality and good time at the events I attended. Namely, sometimes it was the opposite.
I ruined a quality time by being drunk...
Before, the motive of drinking large amounts of alcohol was to fit into society...
I always had this attitude: "I'm not interested in smoking marijuana or consuming some light drugs (if such drugs exist), I'll drink a few beers instead of a joint and it will be we are also great...".
And so the whole youth.
Beer after beer, whiskey after whiskey, tequila, vodka, brandy, bourbon, wine red or white, beer light or dark, I drank like everyone in my company.
I drank, but I didn't need it.
I don't need it because I'm a cheerful person by nature and always in the mood for fun.
Fortunately for my liver, which was strained in my youth, in 1999 I stopped drinking.
By then, I had already realized that I don't need alcohol for a good time, for quality socializing and entertainment.
I still drink today, far from being an anti-alcoholic, but I'm glad that I have a measure and know when I've had enough.
One glass of quality brandy
And that's enough for me as I enjoy myself...
When I finish my third glass of whiskey or my second glass of wine or my third beer.
Now the purpose of drinking alcohol is not to have a good time (to fit in with society, to be someone's buddy for drunkenness), I drink with enjoyment.
And when did I realize that I don't need alcohol to have a good time?
Long before I decided to cut down on alcohol, way back in 1997.
My brother was celebrating his wedding, and I, in order to remember every moment, put alcohol aside.
I sang, danced, had fun, without a drop of alcohol.
So it can be done without alcohol.
And that would be my conclusion to the question of the topic #galenkp asked in this #weekendengagement :
Do you feel a person needs to drink alcohol to have a good time in a social setting?
Have a nice weekend and Cheers!
A glass of my favorite dessert Bermet wine

Of course you have to drink it, but only one small glass in the morning to disinfect the stomach. That's how my parents taught me 😂 Slivovica 💪
Šljivovica (Plum brandy) is the best 😀
Your parents are right!
My grandfather told me "One glass of šljivovica in the morning, and one glass of red wine after lunch".
Yes, especially when you're visiting another country, because that's how you avoid getting sick 😂 I'm still not sure if this was just an excuse for drinking in the morning or if it's true, but they were never sick while visiting Croatia in the last 20 years 😂
My grandfather lived 90 years. It doesn't seem to hurt 🙂
Okay that’s really great to know you know when you have had enough and have to stop
I also think you can have a best time without alcohol. That way you get to even remember all the moments you had
In order to be able to stop when you've had enough, when we speak about alcohol, before you start drinking when you're in company, you need to decide how much you're going to drink.
Because it is not possible to stop if the atmosphere takes you away 😀 Therefore, when that moment approaches. I switch from alcohol to mineral water 🙂
Oh nice that a good strategy
For Us Muslims alcohol is Haram we do not drink even though we avoid to use such perfumes having alcohol.
I am familiar with alcohol-free, oil-based perfumes. they are phemonenal. Like this one...
And let me ask you, what is the attitude of the Muslims when it comes to medical treatments in which alcohol is used for disinfection?
Is that situation treated as an exception to Haram?
I haven't used alcoholic medicine yet firstly i check the ingredients of every medicine. and alcoholic in medicine used as 0.00000001 percent and that is allowed to save any one's life. Because life is precious. But using alcoholic products like lavish. and the main thing is that people loose self control while using alcoholic products. Thats why in Islam that is haram.
