Technology - Shaping or creating our future
Back in 1986, celebrating the birthday of my school friend, at his house on a video recorder, his dad played us the movie Terminator.
After watching the movie, in order not to make a mess in house, by applying the moves performed by Schwarzenegger (or Sarah Connor 🙂), we are reassured by turning on Specrtum ZX48 and starting the game Commando.
There was no end to our happiness.
Then, at the age of 10, we imagined that in the new millennium we would drive flying cars, have robots for housekeepers (but not like Schwarzenegger, but a little less dangerous 🙂) and communicate through some wireless systems, by touching our ear...
Since those days of my childhood, with the advancement of technology, all sorts of things have happened.
We may not have taken off with cars yet (although we have drones that might transport us), but we have robots, which complement us in our activities, both at home and at work in industry. The fact that technological progress helps us in household activities (vacuums for us, turns on heating or cooling for us, does laundry or reminds us of obligations...), is an advantage of progress, but at work this progress threatens us a little, requiring us to retrain from the jobs we gave to robots and automation...
In terms of communication, we waited the least.
For a long time, we've been tapping away on a wireless bluetooth headset and talking on our mobile phones... We use various platforms to communicate with distant friends and relatives, we rarely send letters or not at all, and we have the feeling that the people who are important to us, even though they are far away, are always there, next to us...
Technological progress has also led to our accelerated development, but still, man, as a user of advanced technologies, seems to be taking a step back...
Using advanced technology, man uses his brain less and less and surrenders to artificial intelligence. The regression of human development was most impressive to me at the moment when, during the Covid pandemic, I saw that instructions for washing hands were being distributed on the public information media...
Surrendering to artificial intelligence and advanced technologies, in my opinion, is OK to a certain extent, and I sincerely hope that we are not waiting for a scenario like in the above-mentioned Terminator, when AI took control of the human race and brought us (in that film series) close to the end of humanity...

Thanks 🙂
I like the Terminator pic. It suits to the topic so well :)
