Some ROCKS by the seashore

Although I generally adore mountains, which are basically one big pile of ROCKS, I rarely get the chance to go up one.
Even when I'm on a mountain in the region where I live, I can't see landscapes with magnificent rocks, like the one posted by @friendlymoose in this week's contest post, or like the beautiful rocks that some of my friends have been posting on Hive I follow day by day…

The rocks that I see on those mountains are mostly some smaller rocks, which are hidden behind the trees.

Unlike the mountains, I take the opportunity to go to the sea more often. And at the sea, wherever I am (unless they are miles of sandy beaches), I find some part of the coast with rocks.
The moment when I surrender to my thoughts, while listening to how the sea waves hit those, not too big rocks, brings me relaxation and peace.

Thus, during my stay in Lloret de Mar, Spain, while my friends was taking a break at a nearby beach bar (outdoor cafe Mirador de Llaveries, Cala banys), I found a rock that I climbed.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro

I asked my friend to take a picture of me, while I took a picture of the sea waves crashing into the underwater rocks.

Samsung S23+

When I went to review the pictures we took, in the evening at the hotel, that I realized how important the quality of the camera phone I'm using is.
Unfortunately for me, the picture of me on the rock was taken with a Xiaomi phone with a not good enough camera, but I will still nominate it for participation in this week's #POBPhotocontest, as an example of poor quality photography 😂

You can imagine what that photo would look like if it was taken with the phone camera I used to photograph the waves.

The difference is drastic and it really pays to invest in the equipment we use to take photos, not only for the reason of participating in this or a similar photocontest, but also for our albums, because after all, photography is a lasting memory, so it should be beautiful.

No doubt bro the sound of waves crashing into rocks is so calming. It's great to hear how you find peace in these moments by the sea

And when I find a safe, comfortable place on the rock, I often fall asleep to the sound of the waves 😀

One summer I drove the car to the resort, almost 1000 km, drove all day... went to the beach late in the afternoon, lay down on some rocks and fell asleep until late at night 😀

Despite the sound of the waves, I feel very peaceful and calm at the seashore. It's a feeling. :)

Unfortunately for me, I have 600km to the nearest sea...
But yes, I enjoy being on the shore in the sound of the waves, whenever I'm on the seashore.

Sorry for being off topic here. My girlfriend and I may take a Balkans road trip in a couple of weeks. We might even stop by Belgrad - I assume you're from there. Would you mind sharing some non-touristy tips? Like for places to eat and drink, perhaps less-known landmarks and so?

I will be happy to guide you and recommend you where, what, how, in accordance with your wishes and interests (and in relation to where you are staying).
If there's a chance, maybe we'll drink some beer together 😃
Just to find a place to correspond. Of course we can do it through posts🙂

Hehe, I didn't mean to intrude like that - inviting myself for a drink :) But yes, I'd love to meet some Hiveans around the road as it is always better to mingle with the locals when travelling.

Belgrade may not really be on the way - the current plan (which could change like a million times within next few days) is to fly to Dubrovnik, Croatia, rent a car there and head south by the coast. However, we may take the return inlands, through Macedonia, and possibly Serbia. Then Belgrade may get on the itinery ;)

If you go south from Dubrovnik, there is not much of the Croatian coast.
You would quickly find Montenegro, and even further south, Albania...
Such a tour through Macedonia is not very easy (last year I went to Valona, from Belgrade through Macedonia, there is a lot to drive). Although, with overnight stays, it is possible to perform.
Send here the itinerary you have planned if you need advice, I have driven through that entire region and I would have something to recommend, but also tell you what to avoid🙂

As for the invitation for drinks (maybe also for lunch 🙂), of course I don't consider it a self-invitation...
It's a mini Hive meetup 😃
I would contact you too, if I were planning to come to Prague (or Madrid)

Yep, we'd love to discover the non-EU countries. Renting the car in one of them would be way cheaper, but I guess having an EU licence plate, insurance, and passports may be a better combo than driving around with an Albanian car (I have no clue about their insurance policies, and not about to discover them).

At this very moment, I could imagine something like:
Dubrovnik - Podgorica - Skadarsko Lake or the sea - Tiranë - Butrint or Gjirokastër or the national park south of Vlorë - Ohrid and the lakes and mountains around. And then, one of the options are Skopje - Belgrade - Sarajevo - Mostar - Dubrovnik.

For sure, feel free to reach out to me when travelling to those two cities ;)

it's a serious travel plan…

I will use your plan to check some interesting points that I visited and what I would recommend (and what I didn't visit, because I didn't make it) in one post.
Just a little time to find it in a couple of days...
And then you can ask further on that post 🙂

I guess we'll have like 8-10 days. It's not a plan, though, it's just a draft. We may change our minds anytime, even when we're somewhere on the way :)

For the itinerary you mentioned, I think it takes two weeks. 8 to 10 days would be very tense for you.

Yeah, that's why we may opt out to skip the inlands route and return similar way from Macedonia.
