Favorite neighborhood stores this weekend
When we enter deep autumn, when heavy rains begin and when, like today, a strong wind blows, so strong that it is impossible to walk in the streets, I retire to a warm home and avoid going out anywhere..
I don't have the will and desire to walk and visit some interesting locations... Tucked in a blanket in a warm room, I wait for the famous Belgrade "Košava" to pass. The "Košava" wind is so strong that it freezes the blood in the veins, it blows in the Danube region and when it starts, it blows continuously for 3, 7 or 14 days. I sincerely hope that this time it will blow for the shortest period of three days, because with the temperature dropping to around 5°C it is very unpleasant to be outside.
When the weather conditions are such that leaving the house is a real torture, I'm very lucky that near the apartment where I live, I have a lot of small shops available for a quick purchase of basic food.
I will write something about those stores, for the topic that @galenkp gave for this weekend
"Places you shop: Show us one or two of the places you go shopping or in which you eat in your local area and explain why you go there and what you like about it."
I have a bakery within 500 meters, where I buy hot pastries for breakfast on weekends, fruit and vegetable stalls, as well as street sellers of homemade eggs, apples and cheese...
Nearby is one of the stores of a larger chain of stores where, in addition to food, you can also buy products for personal hygiene, as well as household chemicals, towels, toilet paper...
I have a favorite store where I buy fresh meat, and as a gem for lovers of tasty bites, I also have a small store of local cured meat products, where I often buy beef and pork prosciutto and ham, "Kulen" and various types of sausages, as well as various types of hard and soft cheeses.
That store is my favorite when I plan to buy cold appetizers, which go best with red wine, which we plan to drink tonight.
They always have a large amount of quality prosciutto, hams, sausages and cheeses and when I go to choose, sometimes I stay too long, not to mention that I almost always spend more money than I planned.
Since we are not going out to party today (due to too strong wind), we invited friends to our place to hang out, so I decided to prepare some hot and cold appetizers, to be eaten with red wine.
For this reason, I had to visit almost all my favorite stores, because each of them has its best quality products, which I like to choose and combine.
So I bought bread rolls at the bakery, fresh homemade eggs from the street vendor, chicken fillet at the fresh meat shop, and beef prosciutto, cheese and smoked cheese seasoned with hot pepper at the deli shop.
All the pictures are mine, taken today before noon, while I was holding the umbrella and bags with one hand and the phone with the other 😀
Have a nice weekend everyone, and we have a good time with our friends.
I can't imagine how cold those winds are, I live in an area where it's summer all the time, we don't feel cold very much, just a little bit in December.
You always look for variety when shopping, luckily you have a lot to choose from in your area.
When "Košava" blows, I have the impression that the temperature is 15°C lower.
When it blows in winter, when it's below zero, the feeling is unbearable. The only salvation is a wardrobe made of leather, since the wind blows through any wardrobe...
