Excalibur city, somewhere along the way

avatar

While I was driving on the E59 highway between Vienna and Prague, just after passing the former border crossing between Austria and the Czech Republic, a wonderful sight on the left side of the road caught my attention.
How can it not attract attention when you see a passenger plane, a huge ball and two dragons standing on the roof of the building in the parking lot 🙂

I didn't think for a moment, I immediately turned on the left turn signal and turned into the parking lot.

Excalibur world

A promising name, the only thing I wasn't sure was what was in that world. 🙂

What we discovered there took us as much time as it would have taken us to drive to Prague (read: "a lot of time"), but it was worth every minute.

The building on the roof of which there are figures of dragons is actually a restaurant, next to which there is a free shop. It was a facility that unexpectedly took more money out of our pocket than we had planned to spend on the trip from Vienna to Prague...
But how can you miss a free shop offer 🙂

Alcoholic drinks specific to that area, some sweets that we didn't see in the other free shops we visited, and some souvenirs were all we bought and immediately placed in the already full trunk of our car.

After the free shop, we headed to a wonderful amusement park, a heavenly place for children (small and big, that is, a place for all of us who are still playing).

There are various props, ship models, pirate figures, real bridges and an artificial river and a small lake...

I took a picture as a pirate, shot at the non-smoker of the oz cannon, someone used the opportunity to lie down a little, someone to get their feet wet... something for everyone 🙂

And finally, when we had had enough of the game, we sat down in my favorite setting - a grounded airplane that has been converted into a cafe restaurant.
When we got into the passenger area, we got some coffee, and then I went to the cockpit of this old IL-62 and tried to take a photo of what the control panel looks like...

When I saw how many buttons there were, I remembered the old saying: "feed Laika and don't touch the buttons"🙂

The airplane engine was also very interesting to us (I had no idea how complicated its construction was - how many valves, pipes and cables there are...
And here I had to "touch", but only because this is a prop. I wouldn't approach such an assembly within 10m if it were in operation.

After a long break, we headed to the car and continued our journey to Prague. And there, new adventures awaited us, about which I will have another story.

Thank you for stopping by this post (and, like me, taking a break to familiarize yourself with this attraction). I hope you found it interesting and I hope that if you ever pass this way, Excalibur World will attract your attention, as it did me, because this is an attraction worth visiting.

At first glance, I was afraid that the dragons would fly towards our car and start spewing fire 😅
