Don't leave it unfinished for the New Year -DIY

My mother is an old fashioned woman, brought up in the manner: "What you can do today, don't leave it for tomorrow".
She has no idea how "live" and how long some projects last, that in addition to traditional project management methods, there are also agile methods (specific to IT projects) in which projects never end...

My mother knows only one thing: Do it before the New Year!

At the beginning of November, I started closing the cracks under the tiles on the terrace of the apartment where she lives, and now she is asking me to finish it in the old year, so that she does not carry the unfinished work into the new year.

These are not serious cracks, but when the tiles were installed, cavities were left in the very corner.
When she was watering the flowers on the terrace, she noticed those spaces where the water is retained and wanted me to fill them with something.

At the beginning of November, when was a nice and dry day, without rain, I bought one tube of sealing compound (SikaFlex 11FC, which is recommended for sealing because it withstands the difference in temperature and seals well and prevents the passage of water) and went to my mother's apartment.
Only then did I see how big those cavities were.
I used one tube of sealant (which is not cheap) and promised my mother that I would soon buy more and finish...

As the weather was nice today, I went to the store, bought the cheapest transparent silicone there (one tube of SikaFlex costs like 4 of these regular silicones), and went to my mother's apartment.

I cleaned the surfaces to be treated, first with a wet cloth to remove any impurities that could affect the sd silicone not sticking to the surface properly
then wiped the surfaces with a dry cloth. I mounted the silicone applicator on the silicone tube. shortened the tentacle, in order to obtain a thicker layer during the application, mounted the silicone tube on the tool and, with light continuous application, evenly applied the silicone to the cavities.

I used a silicone tool, this yellow one that has several angles, depending on the desired thickness of the silicone. that tool is the best choice, because excess silicone is easily removed, and the tool itself is easy to clean.
until I found this tool, I struggled with various spatulas, knives, sometimes even smearing the silicone with my finger. this tool is phenomenal, it pulls out even, continuous layers of silicone.

I successfully applied the silicone and completely filled all the cavities. I left the applied silicone to dry for the next 24 hours. I cleaned and packed my tools and after drinking juice and eating cake at my mom's house (as a small reward for the completed work) I went to our apartment to help my wife prepare tomorrow's lunch and New Year's cake.

At the end of the year, mother's wish fulfilled, we don't carry over the old work into the new year.
Great, at least something so I don't have to wait for work after the holidays 😂
