Drawing Madcap Magus for the Splinterlands Art Contest

I have come across a number of Madcap Magnus drawings over the months in the entries and I must confess that they are exquisite. Not so long ago too one of my in-laws made one in a fighting stance pose. I decided then to try out this character but in a different light, something I haven't seen before. So upon careful consideration and after pouring through dozens of gallery photos I saw a gnome, and he held a stick. To me it was the perfect sample only that he had beards, a bulky stomach and shoes on. I at the inception before I made the lineart wanted to get rid of these but creativity kicked in and I left it that way. I also didn't want to add colors but looking at the personality behind the sketch, I straightway reconsidered.
