An Unexpected Art Transformation

I am posting this article on behalf of my wife. Painting is just a recent interest of her and as I know my cousin is coaching her.

This morning, she shared on Facebook her most recent piece of art.

I mistakenly thought that she came up with two different artworks. I didn't expect that the above piece will transform into this:

I asked her the story behind the above painting. I also asked her if she had preserved the earlier sketches before she arrived at the final form.

She replied that she was not able to keep the earlier sketches and she covered the above painting with different colors that she mixed.

As for the story, she said she had none except that she just imagined the waves hitting the stones taken from her hiking experiences in places with falls and dams, and the sea.
