The Drama we had with a pregnant woman at the general hospital four months ago.

By the mercies of God I don't fall sick often and even my kids. From the first child to the last one, I can't remember taking anyone of them to the hospital in recent time. Not that we don't visit the hospital. We do. Sometimes to see people who are sick or to go for hospital visitation with my church. I learnt how to use worm medicines to prevent them from getting sick and that has been very helpful over the years. Sometimes one or two persons get sick, but it will turn out to be what can handle at home. In fact, I believe the saying that a mother is the first doctor of her child. As a mother, I have become use to so many drugs. That is the major reasons why we don't often visit the hospital. Some of my husband's siblings that lived with us so trust me with that, that wherever they are and fall sick, they will start calling me and asking me what drugs to buy and all of that.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH A PREGNANT WOMAN AT THE HOSPITAL.

Because of my experience as a mother, most of my friends when going to delivery at the hospital, they prefer to go with me. Some of them even after delivery, they still insist I stay with them at home till the arrival of the mother that will take care of them.
So, recently a friend of mine who got married last year became pregnant and was about to deliver her baby. She came to my house on Thursday night telling me that the doctor said that he will induce her so as to make the child come out. At that time she have stayed longer than expected. She was nine months and two weeks. And From the look of things according to the doctor, the longer she carry the pregnancy the more complicated things become for both she and the baby. She was told this by the doctor on Wednesday. She ran home and refused to be induced, saying that she had that it will be very painful. When she told me that, I encouraged her to go back to the hospital and do as she was told. It was already late, then I asked her to live for the hospital as early as possible the following morning. She accepted.

Another drama started the following morning. She told her husband that her baby will come out without anyone forcing it. So, she is not going to the hospital. I went for lectures that day. When I came back later in the evening, I called them and only to her what her husband said about what she believes in. I insisted the husband should take her to the hospital that same time. She refused to go.

The drama continued the following morning when I called her husband and asked that they should live for the hospital immediately to see the doctor. When I noticed that she was not ready to go I had to talk to her mother to force her to go to the hospital. When she finally agreed to go to the hospital, she refused that the nurses will touch her. She told the nurse that she only wants to see the doctor. The nurse became angry and left her there. Thanks to God that I arrived almost immediately. I saw her outside and asked why they were not attending to by the nurse. The nurse told me what she said and I explained to her that the nurses will not harm her. They just want to check the baby and know what next to do. To cut the whole story short. When the doctor finally saw her, it was discovered that because of her delayance the only option was to operate on her and bring the baby out. At this point, the lady became weak. What she was afraid of, has finally happened because of her stubbornness. She was operated and the baby was brought out. In all my life, I have never seen a woman this stubborn. She caused her problem by her stubbornness.

In summary, I believe that the right thing should be done at the right time. Had it been that she went to the hospital as at the time when she was asked to, she will not have gone through all the problems she went to. Prevention is better than cure.

A better approach may rightly have gotten her a better outcome.

It's good to take to medical advice on time. It prevents many possible complications like the one your friend later experience. Thank God the whole procedure was successful.
