CoinGecko Built Their Own DEX Price Aggregator!
frens, there's nothing more annoying that inaccurate prices especially if you trade cryptocurrencies frequently. I've always opted for CoinGecko after the CoinMarketCap takeover by Binance.
GeckoTerminal
As far as the main reason that I choose to use CoinGecko over alternatives like CoinMarketCap is that CMC is owned by Binance. There's nothing wrong with that, I just choose a more decentralized option. I'd rather not have my price information controlled by an exchange that could potentially benefit from displaying incorrect information. I'm not saying that Binance would do that, nor am I suggesting that they shouldn't be trusted. I just choose to try and eliminate things like that as potential risks in my life because I'm a very cautious degen lol. Anyway - I'm off track here. The reason I was talking about price data being accurate is that I saw a Tweet thread from Bobby Ong, the co-founder announcing GeckoTerminal. CoinGecko has quietly been building their own DEX aggregator to try and reduce price inaccuracies. A DEX aggregator is a decentralized exchange tracker that checks prices across multiple decentralized exchanges.
GeckoTerminal supports ton of different blockchains with different tokens. With all these different Ethereum Virtual Machine chains popping up like layer 2 and all having their own tokens, this is a very powerful tool. On the front page, you'll see the top 10 tokens by 24hour volume so you can easily decide which ones to ape into. Again, you'll see that these are different tokens on different chains, dominated by Polygon. As one of the fastest growing Ethereum layer 2 solutions, it's no surprise that the trading volume is dominated by Polygon tokens. The sheer amount of supported blockchains is pretty awesome considering this thing is in alpha.
Another super important chunk of data to analyze if you're doing some trading is trading pairs across different chains. This chunk of data is front and center on GeckoTerminal, right below the top 10 tokens by volume. One thing I'd really like to see added here is very simple - when you hoevr over the "chain" symbol, it should display the name of the chain. Honestly looking at the pools, I don't know what half of these are by the logo. It's a small feature to add but it would be very useful, especially for noobs.
As you can see, they display the top 10 trading pairs by liquidity instead of volume. There really should be some sorting and filter features added but again - this thing is in alpha. It also displays the name of the DEX that the pool lives on and hopefully they will make these hyperlinks straight to the pools. When you click on a particular pool, you're given a number of pieces of information. Perhaps the customizable graph where you can draw lines and shit is very important to you. Maybe the sentiment of traders is important to you.
It gives you direct link to trade that pair on its corresponding DEX as well as the addresses for each token. Incredibly useful. Going and finding token contract addresses manually is just no fun. This makes it extremely easy for anyone. There's also a link to the block explorer for the current chain if you really wanna dig into where the data comes from. Users can click the voting button to give their sentiment about the trading pair for others to see as well. What that's worth is debatable but you know, more information is always good for the analytical type. The major thing missing here is GeckoSwap. GeckoSwap is not a thing but it would be really cool if you could perform swap trades directly on GeckoTerminal. This is something I would not be surprised if they added in beta or even the final release. If they use the name I came up with, you know where it came from lol. Lemme know what your favorite site for prices is.
Thanks for reading! Much love.

It is great to have more competition in the space. I have been using CoinGecko as my main website to keep in touch with cryptocurrency prices. I have a very good impression of them :-)

Nice! The UI is kinda shit but I'm guessing it will only get better over time.

Oh yeah. It's ass. But it's in alpha so I'm sure it'll improve and more features will be added over time.
