Arch in honor of the crown prince

The Triumphal Arch in Blagoveshchensk was built on June 4, 1891 for the arrival of the Tsarevich, the future Emperor Nicholas II, in the city. He sailed to the Far East by sea and on the way visited Vladivostok, Khabarovsk and Blagoveshchensk. In each of these cities, for the arrival of the monarch, the Triumphal Arches - "royal gates" were erected. Of the three cities, Blagoveshchensk was the largest and richest, so it was decided to build an arch in it higher than in the others. The construction of a 20-meter gate designed by local architect Iosif Bukovetsky cost the city and its residents 10 thousand rubles.
