An easy and safe way to make vinegar at home from any fruit you want:


  • Fill a jar half way with fruit (I used pears here)


  • Fill the rest with water.


  • Leave it in an area where it doesn't receive direct light and the temperature isn't too high or too low.


  • Open it everyday to let air in and smell it. As long as the smell is pleasant you're doing well. If it isn't smelling fruit or vinegar-like (it could start to smell like fungus or rot), then you should take out some water and fruit, and add some fresh water and fruit.


  • At some point it will start to fizz and you can drink it as cider if you wish, it is delicious. But if you want vinegar, this is the moment you should let it sit closed for a couple of months.


  • After two months your vinegar should be ready.



    Enjoy as normal vinegar, except this will be super high in nutrients and good bacteria ;)
