New Ink Drawing - Redwyrm Hatchling
This week has so far been a challenging one, i might even express myself further by adding the word very behind this exclaim. In all areas it has been challenging. First there is so much to do as regards my service to my country. It is all coming to an end on the 7th of next month and i have about three weeks to plan my next step. I also have to put together reports to show how i ran my administration. This is an easy part (but not too easy though) i know i can run through in days but you know the thought of the future and having to make big decisions as to where to permanently reside after my service knowing fully well that the allowances i get from the Government monthly will seize. Viewing this as man whose major sources of income are music and art, living in a time of inflation and high cost of living. Sometimes i feel like just given up but even that too is expensive 😂.
My position as leader of the band has helped me in many ways to stay afloat financially and has given me platforms to explore as well as time to make some interesting art related choices. I might venture towards that end with the aim of gaining sponsors in the next few weeks. I hope to find more sources of inspiration too for my art by visiting strategic centers and places of history. I might be able to build indigenous #splinterlands characters you know.
Now speaking of that, i was very confused at the beginning. This little creature you see here is a result of multiple second or third guesses. I had a number of times tried quitting but something propelled me towards an end, and end which I wasn’t certain of. You see, when i went hunting for characters to sketch, i did so with the hope that i might fine one suitable armoured warrior or a little cute dragon, venari or scavo. I personally was rooting for the Scavo. The last two times I shaded something along that line, I got a very marvelous result. I don’t want to sound boring or one sided but i was thrilled by that. I even noticed that the curation those two works got was a bit higher than the usual patronage.
Going a step further, i supplemented many of the colours i couldn’t find in the set of pen under my employ. Like i usually do, i had a brainstorm and wondered how else i could make this sketch something of a marvel, something to behold, something that held essence. After some mixing and moving around, i was able to see a not too different approach but at least it was something close. I don’t think there is a need to explain my motivation behind my use of the card directly at this point. It was a genius idea born months ago, one which has become tradition in the past few months. The only thing i often miss out on is giving these beautiful creatures a background, a little bit of context in which they can rely and properly feel at home. Most times i don’t see this until very late in my process of sharing the post. This time my seeing it was due to a misgiving. I couldn’t put in its right leg because i miscalculated and instead of drawing something entirely out of place i had the ingenious idea of adding a treasure hoard beneath its feet, one that would easily heap and cover up my little mistake. Next weeks’ background will be intentional, i promise.
