Not many takers in my free enterprise / capitalist discussion. Oh well...
Capitalism, where wealthy men or women, put their capital to use to try and make bigger measurements of capital. Often scene as pigish by the outside world. Robberbarons, that built and controlled the steel industry and the railroads in the 1800's, would have been viewed as capitaist.
Yes, the free enterprise system and capitalism overlap. Capitalism can be viewed poorly by labor and those in favor of socialism. In the 1930's, labor had reasons to fight against the wealthy capitalist. The reason unions were created.
Even though these battles went on for decades in the western world, it turns out that the free enterprise system has been the greatest wealth creating economic system for the common man. Still the battle rages among those who favor socialism while blurring the lines of the free enterprise system as being entirely a greedy capitalist system. American's inparticular fail to under stand world history to their own detriment.
The free enterprise system has more than proven success for common people in western Europe, the United States, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan, and even in the modern Communist government of China. What is the message, government get out of the way, regulate, but only enough to contribute!
Next we can discuss the failures of the Soviet Union and a centralized command economy. :) Nah, I won't do that to you.
