Tinubu inherited dead economy, CBN under Buhari printed money illegally – Soludo
In an interview recently conducted on Channels TV's Politics Today, Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo addressed the current state of Nigeria's economy under President Bola Tinubu's administration.
He emphasized the challenges inherited by the current government, pointing out that they were handed what he described as a "dead economy."
Soludo highlighted the alleged unauthorized printing of money by the Central Bank of Nigeria, attributing it as a significant factor in the country's currency depreciation.
He emphasized that this action was in violation of the 2007 Act governing the apex bank, suggesting that it contributed to the economic downturn faced by the nation.
Speaking from his perspective as a former CBN governor, Soludo drew attention to the explicit measures put in place to prevent reckless lending and cautioned against granting excessive financial support to the federal government.
He stressed that the economic situation inherited by the present administration was dire, likening it to a "dead horse" that appeared alive but was, in reality, in a state of decline.
He urged Nigerians to grasp the complexities of the economic challenges faced by the nation and urged for patience with the current government, laying blame on what he referred to as the "recklessness" of the previous administration for leaving behind a struggling economy.
