The Sakura-ish Songs

Good morning my good naija brothers and sisters.

It's a new day, it's a new joy, it's a neeeeewwww lifffffeeee foooooooorrrrr mmmmeeeeeeeeee... And I'm feeling bleeessseed.

My love for music is something that has been there ever since my childhood days. I remember when I used to listen to a Nigerian musician called BB Dj (well up till date I don't know wether or not he is Nigerian, all I know is that his songs always made me dance). Here's a link to one of his songs

I don't want to mention king of music in those days, people like Bob Marley, lucky, and Fela kuti who are the best musician in the history of Nigeria. These people saw into the future of Nigeria and put it into music. The person I love among these three is Fela kuti because of his spoken words and his beat. He showed example of "no matter how much you smoke Marijuana, your brain will still be intact to spit wisdom. "😹😹😹😹

After these great musicians, I began to like Tekno, he is also a Nigerian musician who is very good at what he does.

He is a dancer and also speaks with wisdom, well, at times speaks about butt, anyhoo he's a good one. His songs are really dope though.

Tekno singing

Worthy of note is P-square who reigned but separated, and the ultimate Burna boy who I currently consider the only Nigerian musician worth listening to.

The music line began to change drastically and the good, educational and motivational music that was produced by great musician began to fade away as new artist like Portable, Rhema and the rest started coming up with music that talks nothing but yahoo (scamming other people) drugs, smoking, s*x and Ass. That is basically what Nigerian singers are singing today. Nothing more nothing less.

WHAT I THINK ABOUT THE MUSIC?

Personally, I think the songs have good beat, without a doubt but the lyrics are Sakura chan. Yes, Bug fat trash. Lemme show one example.

To me, all these things are trashy trash without any positive impact to the society. If I was the government, I would ban this song and even ban the musician from making songs in the future. Well, he's lucky I'm not.

HOW I AM HANDLING MY HATRED FOR THIS TYPE OF MUSIC?

Being a music freak, i can no just stop listening to music because Nigerian artist decides to make nonsense for a song.

I migrated to listening to foreign songs and that was when I realized that I missed quite a lot of knowledge ya'know.

Currently I listen to people like Kendrick Lamar, Masego, Dax, Nas, Jcole, Snoop Dogg with a double G😎😎, Dre, Pac, Jay Z, Biggie and the GOAT among all Legends - Eminem ❤️

These rappers not only talk about sensible things, but they also motivate their listeners with their life story (Jay Z - the story of OJ, teaches a good one). In the song story of OJ, Jay Z said:

I told him, "Please don't die over the neighborhood
That your mama rentin'
Take your drug money and buy the neighborhood
That's how you rinse it"
I bought every V12 engine
Wish I could take it back to the beginnin'
I coulda bought a place in Dumbo before it was Dumbo
For like 2 million
That same building today is worth 25 million
Guess how I'm feelin'? Dumbo source

Now this level of message is something a Nigerian artist can never give out currently. I don't know if I have not found a good Nigeria artist, but all there is now, all of them are Sakura chan. Big fat trash.

I don't wanna talk about how Eminem is the goat 🐐 but he? He's the best of all.

Some years back, he almost died of a drug over dose and when he came back from rehab, you know what he did? He adviced everyone against drug and also wrote the song - Afraid.

In this song, Eminem's lyrics was not only powerful but educational as well. Listen to get more details.
Currently I've got a whole lot of songs from Eminem and it's really the best songs I have listened to fr the past years.

In conclusion, the songs of these days are absolutely nothing to be compared to that of previous days, most especially Nigerian songs.

Personally, foreign songs are better as they pass valuable messages across.

Thank you for stopping by my post, I hope to see you next time.

Quite a nice playlist youve got of Eminem,I love that guy.
Even foreigners make what I would call 🤮 music, I remember when Gucci gang by lil pump was a big hit, I kept wondering what meaning the song had.
I think trash music is everywhere and not synonymous to us here alone.

I couldn’t even continue reading this because it wasn’t entirely fair🥲 especially towards so many artists in Nigeria who put out good songs (even if they also talk about ass and whatever) but have people who undervalue their content.

I also listen to a lot of western music but these ones are not better they just have an audience willing to listen. Nigerians don’t buy into motivational bullshit. Where is Victor A.D now? Even Erriga’s fanbase isn’t so strong because the people of this country prefer to hear about breast and nyash. Lol. And the few times they want to listen to motivational songs it’s from outside artists. So why? Lol. I agree to disagree with you.
