THE GENTLE VOICE OF REASSURANCE

Being human comes with the compilation of many emotions. Anger, hatred, pain, joy, happiness, sadness and many other emotions, not excluding fear.

It is natural to feel these emotions. It doesn't make you less of a person, but it makes you unique and special.

We live in a world where one person is another persons problem. Equally, one person is another persons source of happiness as well.

We hurt, we cry, we feel happy and joyful, and sometimes, we ourselves, are the source of other people's happiness, irrespective of how chaotic our mental health is, and how in-pain our heart is.

I have been friends with this lady for a long time. She is a good person, a lively one, who knows how to keep the vibes flaming, even when I am sober. We are very close, ad people do call us siblings because of the way we behave.

I have never known her to be a type to allow sadness overwhelm her. She is always happy, lively, and never have I ever seen her sad over anything.
In her words, happiness is the first step to solve any pressing issue. She never allowed her troubles take away the smile in her face.

One faithful day, my phone rang. Vibing to my ring tone, I looked at my phone to see the caller. It was my dear friend.
Without wasting any time, I answered the call with great joy.

Hello? How are you? I asked in a joyful tone.
With a calm and reserved tone, she skipped my question and said that she wanted to see me.

I immediately understood that something was wrong with her. My joy began to turn into worry.

What happened to you? Are you okay? I asked with a worried tone. She replied, I want to see you.

Hurriedly, I left all that I was doing, dressed up, and went to her house.
On my way, I was pondering. What is it that made her be like this? Did she lose somebody?

I tried to control my thoughts and decided to remain calm, so as to be able to handle the situation.

I got there, knocked on her door and she got the door.
Upon seeing me, she welcomed me with a hug, and tears running down her cheeks.

Her cries was really intense which made me feel really bad. I immediately took her inside and locked the door behind me.

I refused to say anything, or ask her anything.
She continued to cry and I started giving her reassuring words. I didn't know what was wrong, so I generalized my words.

She cried for some time, and she slept off afterwards. I took her to the bed, and covered her to sleep.
Then,I helped her arranged her room then I went back home to get somethings to keep myself busy at her house.

After some hours, she woke up, and I made something for her to eat. I tried my best to cook her favorite meal.

Initially, she refused to eat, but I persuaded her. After a while of going front and back, she gave in, and she began to eat while I fed her.

After she finished eating, I asked her to refresh her self, which she did, as I waited patiently in the parlor.
After she was done, she came to the parlor to meet me.
When I saw her coming, I began to praise her. I called her cute names.

I could see a smile in her face, and I knew that this was the perfect time to ask what happened.

When she sat down, I asked her why she was sad.

She gave me an empty look, and at the same time, tears rolled down her eyes, and I went closer to wipe them off.
With a sigh, she said that she broke up with her boyfriend.

I was surprised when she said this because they've been dating for about three years. She has been really faithful to this guy. Even I, can attest to that.

The guy is a good guy, no cap. I really like the guy, and I do encourage her to not leave him no matter what.
When she reports his wrong doings to me, I will always take sides with him.

I asked about the reason the break up and she told me that he cheated on her.

Knowing that I will take sides with him, She showed me a video on her phone as proof.

I was speechless, dumbfounded and I could not do anything.

I was really bittered and disappointed.
Bitting in my teeth and with a folded fist, I took my phone to call him but she stopped me.

She said that I should not do anything or say anything.
She said that she don't want to go back to the guy because he was fond of doing such things. She suspected him but played cool until she caught him on the act.

I allowed her say everything in her heart. Every words altered, was accompanied by tear drops from her eyes.

I have not seen her in such situations before.

I began to reassure her, tell her comforting words and show her the options she has.

She is really beautiful. Many guys have come to her for a serious relationship but she turned them down because of the guy.

After a while day of reassuring her, she calmed down a little. I knew that it was not the end of it, so I began to play music.

She loves dancing, so, I began to dance.
She was laughing at my silly dance as she joined the fun. We danced all through till night fall.

In the night, I took her out to get fresh air and grab some drinks.
I could see that she was really happy, which made me to be happy as well.

I took her home, and then, I decided to go back to my house.

I got home, and I called her on phone. I noticed that she was still sober, so I decided to continue my therapy from where i stopped.

The guy in question, is not even making attempts to come back to her, so I just forgot about him. I concentrated in making her better.

We chatted until she slept off.
The next day, I got a call from her. She was much lively this time and I was happy as well.

Though my therapy didn't stopped there as she was occasionally getting sober and being happy too.
I understood that she was passing through the stages of grief, so I tried my best to be here for her.

After some weeks, she got healed and moved on with her life.
The guy decided to come beg her. She forgave him but refused to go back to the relationship.
