Securing My Mental Health

I will want this post to serve as an entry to a contest "mental Health" organized in the HL community.


Most people always care about their health status but they forget about one of the most important aspect of health and wellbeing which is the MENTAL HEALTH.

Mental health has to do with the the central nervous system which includes the brain, as well as the spinal cord. In a layman terms, the brain is the CPU of the body and as such, it is responsible for all activities carried out in the body.. I will love to give an anatomy of the brain but well, this isn't a course but a contest.

Anyways let's ride on shall we?

The brain is responsible for movement, balance, hearing, smelling and basically everything but it does these functions through their respective organs. For example, in seeing, the image is sent to the retina which has the optic nerve (a nerve branch from the spinal cord) attached to it, and the optic nerve sends this image to the brain for proper interpretation. That's why a person can differeciate between objects.

However, Mental health can be defined according to me as the total well being of the brain and spinal cord and not merely the absence of disease.

If a person's brain has issue, there will be risk of the brains loss of function depending on the severed area and as such madness can come in.

I think I've got a long introduction here, let's dive in to the questions of the contest


There are many ways i survive from mental health disorientation and take good care of my mental health as well.

I try to make me be focused by setting daily goals as well as evaluating my weekly accomplishment to keep me moving and motivated through my past accomplishment.

I make sure that my emotions are stable because an unstable emotion can lead to depression and ultimately severe depression.

I have many ways to keep a sound mental health. According to an African proverb, there are many ways to kill a rat😁😁😁 Well the ways I used in killing this rat are as follows:

To begin with, I make sure to keep my goals attainable and not the ones that will frustrate me before I achieve it. Also, I make sure to accomplish that goal no matter the situation.

Additionally, I make sure to socialize perfectly so that I will be able to maintain a good mental health. Socializing has proven to be able to make a person get over depression.. if you have passed though heart break, you will understand 😹😹 Breakfast (break up) no be anybody mate😹😹

Furthermore, I make sure to exercise moderately to help blood flow to the brain be adequate.

Also, I eat healthily. The brain needs good food which has all the classes of food, to develop and function well.. but as a student, I don't get enough of those vitamins and I such, I take multivitamins at monitored intervals to avoid damage to my internal organs.

Going further, I try to maintain my stress levels. There are two types of stress which are eustress and distress.. distress is a bad type of stress and as such, I maintain my level of stress so that it will not go into the level of distress.

In addition, I try as much as possible to avoid self medication, mostly the ones that act on the CNS (central nervous system) examples are sedatives, antidepressants e.t.c because these medication and others can cause addiction and which may result to overdose and ultimately death.

Furthermore, I avoid smoking and drinking hard substances.. the easiest way to run mad within seconds is to take gard substances like; unprescribed marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, alcohol, e.t.c these substances can destroy not only the brain but also the organs of the body.

Additionally, I maintain a single relationship.. Yes, a single intimate relationship with the opposite gender. Relationships can be more stressful than working on a 9 to 5. Just one relationship I have is making me feel as if I'm working for an ungrateful boss😹😹😹 that wants my attention always, imaging having two. Even as I am making this post, she has been disturbing me asking me questions that don't even exist😫😫 anyways, she's a good person though and she's go a heart of a priceless pearl.

In conclusion, securing my mental health is the first option I have in my day to day activities and as such, I try everything possible to do so. There are many more ways to do so, but these are some ways I use to preserve my mental health.

However, having people around to help mentally is one of the best ways to manage mental health. But the opposite is gotten if a person has someone who makes them depressed always
