PRIVATIZING DATA

The only answer that came to mind upon seeing this prompt is - Yes, data should be private. However, when I read the texts that follows I began to have second thoughts.

Most people think the internet is a safe place, where you do anything you want and get out without nobody seeing you but let me break the sad news to you, it is not safe. Why do you think people go straight to the dark web? Most, if not all of your data is collected when you visit a webpage. These data are stored in the Cloud, though not to harm you but then, it could be hacked. The fear of computer programmers is the begining of wisdom. Haha.

The government are good spies ya'know. They spy on almost everything we do online. I will say that they do this for security reasons but then, I think every single person has the right to privacy, which is in the Constitution. This literally means that they are beaking their own laws.

Though having data out there can be very helpful, just like Google auto fill, having your health details stored up for easy access if you are not conscious to give them out and many other things, but come to think of it, having your details out there out you at risk of being open to scammers and other internet offences.

About two weeks ago, I went to visit a friend who is a software programmer. I met him building a website so I decided to observe to get some knowledge.

I started asking some questions which he answered. He began to explain how he will upload the codes to the clouds so that every other person can be able to access it. One thing led to another and we switched the conversation to the security of the users data. He said that the data is secured but the programmers who developed, maintain and upgrade the site have access to many informations. He told me how credit and debit card informations are stored there, how many other data are stored there which he can access at will. I asked him if the programmers would not steal the details for their own use but he went further to tell me that as a programmer, you need to be honest and remove the mentality of scamming people from your mind.

Though he convinced me of the datas safety, I was not fully convinced because humans are always humans.

Based on this, I personally think that data should always be private. Only suspects should have their Internet activity monitored because even the government can be hacked by scammers.

I do not think there is a way of making data private as the government, mostly, the security of a country will always want to monitor the citizens. Like I said earlier, this is probably due to security reasons but I think it is not enough reason for another person to monitor my movement.

I think data should be stored properly and only be accessed when the government suspects a person of having an ulterior motive or when the health team needs that data but the person is not in the best medical state to provide it.

I think data should be private and only people who go against the law should have their data out there to help with the investigation. I am support your idea.

And I also think that only tje most trusted programmers be allowed to access the data

Ahhh even I am not convinced o
The temptation will always be there with such availability of data 😅

It's only God that's saving all the data we have online.

As a software engineer myself, I can tell you that everything that your friend said is very true. Programmers have full access to apps and can mess with users dausers'yhow they want, the only thing holding them back is the spirit of professionalism, just like the client confidentiality that is seen in the world of doctors and lawyers. But the people who have even more access to clients' data are data scientists and analysts! 😀

Guy.. I'm becoming scared as the da goes by.

This has made me realize that in this life, we are all dependent on each other for our survival. We need to trust each other in other to grow

It's difficult to trust man not to compromise access and utility of data when it's readily accessible to the public

Honestly. But at this juncture, we do not have a choice but to blindly trust

We all can not be totally convinced about this data things.
It's sometimes hard to accept and sometimes, we do not have a choice.

I would not say "sometimes" because even this reply you gave and the one I am currently typing is being recorded and can be accessed.

Omo we don't have no choice ooo

So far we have our numbers, and other information stored online, they are so secure to some extent. We only wish that no one tries to access them illegally.

All we need to do now is to have hope and put our trust in the guys handling our data.
