Newbies initiative task 4: tags, tokens and tipping
The appropriate use of tags is very important as it not only increases the visibility of ones post, but it also help the author mine a token as well. My partner for the week is Meya also called @meyateingi, a loving soul from Bayelsa state.
Made using canva
You're warmly welcomed to my humbly noble blog. This post however discusses the content of the newbies initiative task 4, so stay tuned , grab cushion, sit back, relax while I take you round the rollercoaster of tokens and tags including how to perform transaction in the hive-engine.
Let's dig in shall we?
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TAGS AND TOKENS
Tags and tokens are really different from each other.
Basically, tags also called topics are used to identify posts. They are used to improve visibility of an authors post to curators who curate the niche an author post about. Also, tags can be used to mine tokens. For example, I could use the #neoxian tag to mine the Neoxian tribal token.
Example of tags include #neoxian, #battle, #archon, #palnet, #leofinance #nbtask4 e.t.c
Tokens on the other hand are currencies established by a given community and they are used by the community to reward authors who post remarkable articles in the community. The tokens can be given through upvotes by any account that hodl the given token. For example, if I post in the Leo community, I stand a chance to be upvoted by their curation account and by so doing, I will automatically get the Leo token.
Example of tokens include:
SME, Leo, pimp, neoxag, dhedge e.t.c
SIMILARITIES BETWEEN TAGS AND TOKENS
From my perspective, there isn't any similarity between tags and tokens because tags also called topics (depending on the frontend) are used to ensure visibility of ones post. The factor which affects the use of tags however is greatly affected by the topic and content of the post.
Tribal tokens on the other hand basically are tokens which are created by a community in other to award an author for their outstanding performance.
However, tags can be used to mint tokens for example, if I create a splinterland post and I talk about how I bought different amour for my arsenal, I could use tags such as #battle, #thgaming, #splinterland and #leofinance to ensure its visibility reaches the respective curators and also, to mint the tokens that comes with using the tags.
With these few points of mine, there is no similarities between tags and tokens, just that tags can be used t mine tokens.
THE NEOXIAN COMMUNITY
The first community to explore is the Neoxian community. the frontend is www.neoxian.city
I really love how simplified the frontend is and honestly, navigating through the frontend is as easy as commenting. This is the first one I'm going through the frontend and I will rate it a 12 out of a 10. Yes, it's very much "sweet" to use.
LIKETU COMMUNITY
As most of us know, the LIKETU community is mainly for pictures. However, their frontend is something I find interesting. The web design is top notch and the layout is very much cool.
I love how arranged my profile is in the frontend and rating it will be a 10 out of a 10.
Tipping tokens are tokens used by other authors to gift an author for their quality work. For example, if you find the article to be interesting and captivating, you could gift me a token.
Example of tipping tokens include: the beer token and the luv token.
HOW TO TIP?
Easy
All you have to do is to initiate a tipping command for the token you want to tip me and the bot for the token will automatically do the job. Example, if you want to tip me luv token, you can give a command of " !luv " and the bot will carry out your command... Same applied to other tokens.
Abusing the tipping tokens is heavily frowned upon. One can abuse this service by using another account to tip themselves.
As a Blockchain author, one thing you should have in your finger tips is the ability to exchange one crypto currency (or in this case, token) for another.
I will be showing steps how I do my exchanged using leodex
First, you have to login to the leodex website in there to access the tokens in your hive engine.
Step 2:
Next, you have to deposit hive into your hive engine and as such, it'll become swap.hive. this process will need you to sign transaction using hivesigner.
Next:
Click on the box to choose the token you'll love to trade. I chose someeofficial token (SME), you can trade any token of your choice.
Next:
Scroll down until you see a buy sme writeup.
I'm using a limit order, which means I get to set the price at which I am willing to buy sme. Howecer, in the red arrow, enter the price you're will to buy sme, I entered 0.00003 swap.hive for 1 sme.
The yellow arrow indicates the quantity of sme I'd like to buy and I entered 15,000
The green arrow indicates how many swap.hive I will spend to get the desired sme. The swap hive to be spent is 0.45.
After entering the details, I will click on the buy icon, then sign the transaction using hivesigner.
That's it, my order has been created and when it is filled, I'll get my sme.
The market order is basically buying the token at the price in which the market is willing to sale.
HOW TO SALE YOUR TOKEN
Scroll down a little until you see the sale icon in red color.
Fill the details of the amount you want to sale, the price at which you want to sale and then click in sale afterwhcuh you sign transaction using the hivesigner.
Note this is for a limit order. A market order will sale your token at the rate inwhich the market is willing to buy.

Hello there, @nwothini335 this is impressive. I love the way you explained everything in simple steps. This topic is white complex, but you managed to break everything down- well done.
I like the fact that you explored Liketu frontend. Most newbies try to avoid using that frontend because they think it is difficult to navigate, but you have proven that it is the other way round.
Well done! Keep the good work up.
Liketu frontend to me is really amazing to navigate.. I want to use it but I don't have a good camera 😀 well, I hope to get one soon.
