EVENT OF THE YEAR: THE DECISIVE EXAMS

Even before this year started, many people have already planned and scheduled how every thing will go for them. They have planned the events they will attend, the things they will achieve as well as the place they will travel to.

Planning like this is a Divine gift that helps keeps ones life very much organized to the core.

I am among those who have already planned how their year will be and the events that will take place in my life.

THE EVENT ABOUT TO TAKE PLACE

As some of you know, in a student midwife who has been in school for 2.9 months now. However, in less than three months, I will be taking my final exams which will determine wether or not I am fit to be a midwife.

Though challenges were faced and I'm still facing some challenges, I will be sure to come out of it without much stress.

Ever since I signed up to be a medical student, I have been under the constant verge of extinction. From the first year till date, I had to read, research and put my knowledge into practice else I will be demoted. Three times demotion calls for expulsion from the school. That's how bad it is.

From my experience so far, it is less stressful to study nursing in a university than in a college of nursing. College of nursings do frustrate their students and force them to read round clock with just a few minutes break for eating.

At times, I don't have time to even take care of my self, eat or brush my tooth. Yes, sometimes I refuse to brush my teeth until in the evening because I see it as a waste of time. My eyes are always fixated in my books, trying to get more knowledge, make researches, do seminars and carry out practicals, all for the sake of perfecting my self.

What's more?

Transient insomnia and ulcer crisis (for those that have stomach ulcers) and slightly low immunity due to stress is the order of the day but er can not stop reading. All we have to do is to take medications on the go, eat poorly prepared food or order food from a restaurant then continue to read with enough glucose.

Personally, I take coffee a lot to keep me awake. I bet you that you'll see a trace of coffee in my blood if you do a blood test😹😹. Well, this have made me fall for insomnia but the fact is that I can not stop. Not yet. I must read, get the knowledge and pass the exams to avoid demotion.

WHY THIS EXAMS IS IMPORTANT TO ME?

This exams will mark the day I became a midwife who is licensed by the nursing and midwifery council of Nigeria to practice. This is a proof that all of my hard works, all the things I mentioned above, all of my sleepless nights were not in vain. Passing the exams will prove to the entire nation that hard works really pays off.

Also, all these things I said above are just a fraction of the things we (student nurses in college of nursing) pass through. There are more to it but these are the ones I will let out.

This stress has overwhelmed me a lot. I have endured it and it has really gotten the best of me. Though it has made me strong, I really want it to end. I want to be able to sleep, get rest and not bother of reading anything.

However, this exams will mark the end of this stress. That's why it is very important.

All I am doing now is passing through the last stress there is, after which I write the final exams and then give my self a sweet dish, very rich dish and a sweet vacation before coming back to face the stress of being worker.
