DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY IN THE FAMILY

Family is a crucial aspect for growth and development in the community. According Developmental psychology, it is the first agent of socialization where a child learns most of the traits he or she has by mirroring their parent and environment.

From birth, we begin t learn minor details which begin to stick subconsciously. Traits like languages, knowing who to trust and who not to trust, and many more.

If he family fails it's role of being the primary agent of socialization, then the child may grow up to become some else in the society.

Some families, mainly among those of the eastern part of Nigeria, the male child is preferred to the female. The see the female as someone who will be married off to another person. Thus, she has no significant value to the community except childbearing. Well, I use t agree with the notion but I am begining to have double thoughts.

The male on the other hand are preferred because they are the ones to continue the lineage of the father and bring about a new brand generation.

A family without a male child is not a valid family as it is seen by the community as being more or less cursed. The woman tend to be out casted and insulted. Called different names like witch and many other things. Sometimes, the man end up marrying a second and a third wife (if need be) just to give rise to a male child.

A woman who gives birth to males all though is seen as a strong woman who is good and from the lord. She is hailed and treated with utmost respect which earns her enough reputation to spread her wings. It is crazy yaknow. Its worst if a woman do not give birth at all. The woman is seen as the cause while the man is seen as a saint. Not believing that it may be a fault from the man.

My family is one unique place where responsibilities are actively delegated to the members of the family.

The hardest of the jobs are left for the male whereby the easy ones are left for the females to take care of.

The males are like the breadwinners of the family while the females are there to take good care of the bread gotten by the male.

Everyone has their diverse offices. The females are chief and lords of he kitchen wile the male are the kings who wait patiently (even though their stomach is about to pull out from being hungry 😂😂) for the females to slowly cook and bring their products from the kitchen. Mheen I hate it when my sister cooks. She's too slow but a professional in cooking though. Hehe.

My dad is the overall. After a long work day, we follow him around so we too can feel like the man of the house. Haha. At times, my mom will be overwhelmed by activities of the kitchen and will want us to come join her but my dad will send us for another thing just so that we do not go into the kitchen. He don't want us to go into a kitchen as he sees it as woman's job. Though I love staying in the kitchen, he hates it when I go to the kitchen. But I do sneak in once in a while to learn some skills. haha.
