Dogs are the best incentive to getting in one's daily walks and exercise, aren't they? Kaia is a beautiful German Shepherd! How old is she? I grew up having GSDs as family pets -- love the breed! Then I converted my parents to the love of adorable Cocker Spaniels. Now my husband and I "co[grand]parent" our son's Siberian husky. Huskies are a step above shepherds with their needs, especially the long and frequent daily walks. Belgian malinois are the next level up, top tier need wise, in my opinion.😅

Absolutely! Since Kaia got injured and even more while she recovers from her surgery, my daily step count had dropped dramatically. It just feels weird to go for a walk without the dog! We normally walk at least a couple hours a day, so currently these very limited short walks are really nothing. But they're slowly getting a bit longer, a few more weeks hopefully.
Kaia is just about 7 now. Still plenty of energy. Too much right now, because like I said, she's recovering, and needs to stay somewhat calm.
I love all dogs of course, but GSDs are just the best !lolz Grew up with shepherd mixes, and I knew I wanted GSDs as an adult. As soon as I finally got a house with a yard large enough, I immediately got Genepi, Kaia's half brother. Then Kaia joined us. Genepi passed away last year unfortunately. Now thinking of another GSD pup for next year maybe.
Huskies are beautiful, but I don't know much about them, except these videos of some of them talking. I often heard they're very vocal
Yeah, malinois are really great as working dog. But as family pets, they need a really active family! One of the mixes I mentioned above was a GSD/Mali mix, he was great: smart and gentle like a GSD with the energy and drive of a Mali!
