Bonds of Friendship (4) : A Freewrite

"Need a hand, my friend?" Memphis asked as he pulled Brandy out of the mire.
Brandy, her body smothered in mire, guffawed boisterously. "Cheers, Memphis. I reckon I required that recognition that we're in this ride as a unit."

As the weeks melded into months, the connection between Brandy and Memphis blossomed into something unbreakable and nourished them as they endured the grueling drills in preparation for war. Their companionship provided solace in the midst of a seemingly bleak future.

One evening, as they reclined in their beds, drained yet satisfied, Brandy glanced at Memphis. "You know, Memphis, I'm glad we're experiencing this together. I cannot conceive of tackling everything by myself."

Memphis inclined his head, his gaze radiating emotion. "The same applies to you, Brandy. We should promise to watch out for one another, no matter what transpires."
