Not a good idea to lie to parents, they will always find out!!!!
It's amazing how far the world has come in 40 years. In the old days physical
punishment was quite common, but now it's illegal in the UK.

I know it's like that in the UK, my brother moved with his family to Scotland 10 years ago, with his wife and son, they had to change a lot about upbringing...
Yesterday I was in a SPA center, where I heard a father say to his son (who is about 6, 7 years old): "mother and I are not your slaves to do everything you want, we also want to rest a little and we enjoy swimming pools"... As if the roles have changed, the adults do what the children want, and not the children do what the parents say they should do...
I remember, when I was a child, and when I mess something up, my mother sends me to the garden to choose a branch with which she will later beat me as a punishment. I always chose the fattest one, so that she would feel sorry... And that's how I save myself from being beaten 😀
