So, odds are you've probably never heard of Zombie Outbreak Survival (ZOS). It's a very new game on the WAX blockchain that uses NFTs for pretty much everything. Being that it's on the WAX blockchain, the transactions are instant and there's no fees. Very similar to Hive, it's a very good chain for gaming. ZOS was born in February and I was in on the first day of alpha testing.

I honestly don't even remember where I heard about the game. I joined the Discord before it was launched for alpha testing and kinda fell in love with the concept. I'm a huge nerd for NFTs being used for gaming so it was pretty exciting. There wasn't much to the game at first.

This is just phase 2 of the game. The first Era ended today, and the second Era was launched. Era 1 was very simple - you have Survivors, which as NFTs and they get sent on missions with a Weapon and a Shield which are also NFTs. They bring back food and sometimes equipment, all you have to do is keep them alive.

Health is burned by sending your Survivors on missions, and Food NFTs are burned to heal them. This isn't super involved gameplay just yet, it's just picking a duration for your survivor to go our scouting.

Looking back, I wish I had gotten more survivors but it is what it is. Now the only way to get them is either buying them on secondary market for about 160 WAXp ($20) or by using the new token Zilver. Looks like I need to do as many Multiplayer runs as possible. With the start of Era 2 comes the first cooperative multiplayer gameplay on WAX.

That's a pretty powerful statement, but it's true really. There's no game on the WAX blockchain that I can think of with cooperative multiplayer. This is that, but in its most basic form. Now you can pair up with 2 other players to do cooperative supply runs for Zilver. Zilver is the new token for ZOS, and it's a cryptocurrency like like SPS or whatever other game token.

What's it worth? Well probably not much of anything right now. Being that it is a token that can be traded, it will end up having some value that the market will have to decide. The tokenomics are available in the ZOS whitepaper if you want to learn about how it is distributed.

Hopefully they're able to create a stable in game economy. I can't even imagine how hard it would be to create something sustainable and that provides actual value. Splinterlands does it well, but they've been doing it for a long time.

With the addition of Zilver, they introduced the store where you can spend it on upgrades, different attack styles, supplies, and even new survivors. I can't wait for it to hit Alcor exchange so I can grab some new stuff hopefully at a discount versus buying on secondary market.

ZOS is very much still in alpha, and it has a long way to go to become a full-fledged game. It's definitely developing quickly and on the fly though. I love that style of development honestly. Instead of waiting months to years for the game to come out, you can start gathering supplies and building your assets up while it's developing.

The community on Discord is awesome and there's always chances to win NFTs for the game. I have a lot of different NFTs for various games on WAX but not a lot of them interest me. The others are R-Planet and Alien Worlds. I've played Hodl Gods a time or 2. There's just not a lot of good ones out there.
