Weekend-Engagement WEEK 172: Words of Wisdom
Hi guys, I believe this is the second time I will be sharing my thought in this community and I must say I feel chill. We all experienced childhood in different ways and if I had the chance to go back, there would be a ton of things I will say to my younger self. So upon seeing the topics up for dicussion this week, I got caught up immediately with the idea of 10 year olds. The first question;
"You're asked to give a classroom of ten year old children three relevant points of wisdom - What are they and why?"
somehow felt like a good way to remedy that which at the moment I cannot do. So if I had the opportunity of addressing a classroom of ten year olds, these are the three words of wisdom I will say.
- Nothing is impossible
if you can dream it, then you can do it.
Growing up, nobody told me this. What I was told however was how to conform and behave, my abilities were graded based on how well I fit in and not on creativity or how well I executed the assignment. I several times doubted myself and my abilities because the quotas dealt to me were described as big, impossible and even strenuous but with a little optimism, I faced then and found them to be easy. Over the years, I trained my mind to look at things as elementary as possible, just like the A,B and Cs of the alphabet. When you see things as elementary as that, nothing will be impossible and you will find that your dreams are just within your reach. You are limited only by what you allow
- You only live once
achievements won't help you, people will
It is normal to always reach for the top and as youngsters, that means your heart is in the right place. However, the path to what we call "greatness" can be a bit tricky so it is important to note certain things because you only go through life once. Most adults make the mistake of not talking to each other or even fighting when they don't agree with another person but that is a bad attitude and should not be imitated. Ensure you talk with people when they wrong you. that way, you won't have to pretend you are happy when in public. besides this, I will like for you to know how much effort your parents put into raising you and measure that with every disrespect you have meted them. You will find that indeed you are lacking. They truly deserve better and they as well as your siblings and friends can make you time on Earth interestingly filled with smiles. So treat them better.
- Health is wealth
notice your body system, you won't be young forever
Lastly, I will like to end this talking about your health. Always remember that no matter what you tend to accomplish in life, without good health, you won't really enjoy it. so it is essential you take good care of your body by eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly in your way and going to bed on time (your body needs adequate rest to function)
eat good food. And also, aside from a proper hygiene, try noticing the things your body negatively reacts to and avoid them.
On this note, I say adios.
I never believed the nothing is impossible comment, clearly some things are...but I guess people say it to indicate that with hard work, effort and persistence one can move closer to achieving some of the things they set out to attain.
I meant it in the sense of possibility. There were many things that as a kid as regards to skills, I was told were impossible and I not only believed it but told others too. When I saw someone do that same stuff about two decades later in school effortlessly right in front of me, I felt very bad cause I had limited myself to a lazy man's speech. It is in that sense that I mean this.
I know, I was just commenting my thoughts.
Okay, that's permitted. 😁
Thanks for your words and your post❤...loved the words "If you can dream it, then you can do it"
Thanks friend.
