Reminiscence

Today was very eventful and because of the many things I didn’t plan for but came up, I wasn’t able to put pen/pencil on paper. I had given up on being able to make any post when it occurred to me that I could share some of my favourite works and moments from the past months in this year starting with one of my favourites from December.

The process for this was smooth and interesting. From the turnout you can easily tell that I was well relaxed and took my time to follow this up in great detail. I drew it on the 29th of December, 2025 and was well rested for the holidays. I had gone back to my home state 6 days prior. Before reaching home I visited a close friend on the way, I’d been very long since I saw her and I think the way I felt after seeing her inspired this.

January was eventful too but I’ll skip it for February, cause in the second month I attended a workshop that connected me with many interesting people and through that workshop I got some hints as to how I would go about my research for my ongoing Masters thesis.

To properly prepare and be well rested for the workshop, I made some sketches beforehand. These two were made on the 7th of February, two day before the workshop began.

I drew a puppy before these too though but the flow of the music I was listening to at this time was on point and I calmly filled in the details.

The third month of the year, this year was one of the most adventurous of my entire life. I did a lot of escortions and went places that I normally wouldn’t have gone. At first, it was a road trip with a couple of friends and colleagues and then I did some fieldwork for a friend.
It was so much fun all the way and was made it a blast was that I called my Dad weeks before to tell him of the adventures I had planned and he remembered. He called me on the days I told him I’d be going and asked how the trip was progressing, that alone made my days and gave me strength to hike more.
Growing up, my Dad was alway absent, thrown into work and for the first one and half decade of my life, I only saw him once a week. I’m glad he’s making up now cause I don’t know what I’ll tell my children (when I have them) if he didn’t 😅.

Below are some shots from one of our stop on the triad trip.

We visited a waterfall in Osun State, Nigeria.

The way leading up to this was exhausting, I even thought I wouldn’t make it to the main fall but eventually I did. There’s so much to unpack from that trip but for now, I’ll just leave it as this.

This sketch as well as that one above were carefully crafted after trip artworks. Believe me, I was happy.

I dont really have much to say about this young lady than for you to just take it in. At this point I’d returned to my home state and was glad to have come. And even though I faced many financial hurdles because of the cost of living in the city, I got to learn and experience things I’d forgotten about after staying for years in rural areas.

So as I said when I made this post, I had just seen the new Frankenstein movie that starred Oscar Isaac and I remembered the one Daniel Radcliffe and James McAvoy did a decade and some back. After seeing the movie, the very next day I took up the reference of James and did this.

Thank you for reading through friend, much love from this end.
