For me, an avenue is a road, and also it is a way leading somewhere or to something. In some cases, I refer to avenue as an opportunity to do or get something.

With every step he took, it led him to the same avenue.
A choice he had to make.
The Broadway or the avenue.
I don't have a straight answer to that.
But he did not have a choice, he must choose and fast too.
How did he get here?
He made the choice, now must make more choices.
