So What?...a five minute prompt

They told me I was in trouble.
I heard so many things, frightening things.
That bad? I said.
I was not afraid, despite their stories.
I was reminded countless times of the horrors.
History lessons were narrated to me several times.
I knew folks I had never heard their names before.
I still was not moved despite their horrific description of events.
So what? I asked.
I reckon mine would be different.
I will take my chances.
