The word plaster can mean different things to different people, especially when it comes to their area of expertise and their work.

While plaster is like a covering on the wall, it can also be like a tape to cover your wound as in the picture above.

I learnt a few years back that there's a particular kind of sand that is called a plaster sand where I come from. The plaster sand is a kind of sand that is soft and can stick to something especially when plastering a wall. The name plaster was coined from the fact that it is sticky.

So, I cannot generalize or give a single definition of plaster because there are other definitions I am not even aware of. But I can see an underlying aspect of the word, and it is the fact that plaster covers something.
