LOTUS!

Hello everyone, how are you doing today?
I want to continue from where I stopped on the flowers I have been posting for quite a while now. And today, the flower I am sharing with you is LOTUS. I most confess to you that I am just seeing the flower for the first time, or maybe just hearing about it for the first time. Which makes me curious and wonder what other nice flowers are there to still discover, it arouses my curiosity.

A little background knowledge on the lotus flower:

Nelumbo nucifera, also known as sacred lotus, Indian lotus,[1] or simply lotus, is one of two extant species of aquatic plant in the family Nelumbonaceae. It is sometimes colloquially called a water lily, though this more often refers to members of the family Nymphaeaceae.[2]

Lotus plants are adapted to grow in the flood plains of slow-moving rivers and delta areas. Stands of lotus drop hundreds of thousands of seeds every year to the bottom of the pond. While some sprout immediately and most are eaten by wildlife, the remaining seeds can remain dormant for an extensive period of time as the pond silts in and dries out. During flood conditions, sediments containing these seeds are broken open, and the dormant seeds rehydrate and begin a new lotus colony.Link

The Lotus is a plant that belongs to the Nelumbo genus, and it has been connected with purity, rebirth and divinity. The lotus flower symbolizes rising from a dark place into beauty and rebirth, as this is precisely how a lotus flower grows.Link

The flower, seed, leaf, and underground stem are used as medicine. Lotus contains chemicals that seem to breakdown fat tissue. These effects might help with weight loss. It also contains flavonoids, such as quercetin, which have anti-inflammatory effects.Link

After reading the benefits and what the flower symbolizes, it gave me a very keen interest in the flower and makes me more in love with the blessings of nature.
