A new owner means change.
Everything changes all at once, and if you are not careful you would be left behind. Most new owners would want to prove that they are competent and are better than others who have been there before, so they will raise the standard and try to make things different from the way it was done before.

I have experienced a change in ownership before and it was not a friendly experience. There had already been stories about the new owner being harsh and strict, so we were all up and doing trying to make sure there was no loose ends. Good for us!
It turns out the new owner was more accommodating and friendly than the previous one, this discovery boosted our morale and made us work even more. I learnt a valuable lesson leading under him, and work was smooth.

A new owner can be whoever he wants to be but we should not lose ourself in the process, we should always be better irrespective of the change in ownership.
